well having joined the site to contact a member on here, i figured it was as good a time as any to show off my car to another group of people
i'll pretty much put up my first post and my latest post of my fordforums build for anyone not interested in hearing all the little details of my car so far.
Link to build thread is here: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread ... 663&page=1

In march(07) the hunt began for new ute as my old 1987 auto XF ute just wasn't very exciting any more, as much as it was a nice car and didn't often give me problems was cheap to run being on dual fuel it just felt time to upgrade.
The old XF

and just for fun, a photo i stumbled upon whilst searching through my photobucket. some miraculously close parking!

I wouldn't settle for anything but a manual ford ute which significantly reduced what was available to me. After much thinking, and scouring the Internet i decided on an AU ute. This was the first one I saw it's a 2000 5 speed manual silhouette XL Ute on dedicated gas, I was instantly in love...

the new ute as she sat the day after i picked it up.

and now to current times, a quick couple photo's after today's mod, getting my new high flow cat installed and new exhaust tip.
utes a bit dirty and the rain didnt quite cover it as well as i'd hoped.

and of course, a quick sound bite. start, idle and rev to about 4,000rpm.

cheers guys, tinted the lights myself, came up a little bit darker than i really wanted them, but happy with he result nonetheless.

day time pics? well plenty of pics but as its an ongoing project they soon become outdated! was perfect conditions to take a couple snaps when i arrived home from work although the ute is still dirty.

here is a list of current mods to the ute in a rough chronological order:
6" and 5" speakers with 4 channel amp
driving lights
headers and 2.5" exhaust with 1 muffler
larger XR snorkle
small length of 3" intake pipe and high flow panel filter
black headlight bezels and painted grey grill black
ported XR6 head with all XR valve gear
tinted tail light reflecters
17" TS territory rims with 235/45 17 kenda kaisers
BA scuff plates with AUfalcon.com inserts
BA alloy pedal set
wade 1645 reground cam
machined rockers to suit cam
lowered and 3" in the rear and about 2" in the front
blue on black MOMO leather steering wheel and shifter with suede(i think) gear boot
exedy sports tuff clutch
BA XR bodykit(still waiting on a hawk front bar to be painted)
alloy sports bars
2.5" high flow cat and dual 3.5" stainless steel exhaust tip

well i believe thats everything will post up anything that comes to mind that i've forgotten.

as promised here are the pictures

and one from when i got it back from the panel beaters after i got rear ended and the kit was fitted, all except the side pods, and a cut and polish

very nice mate.

invest in a short shifter, you won't be dissapointed.

i take it you mean short shifter as in the ones with the straight 2nd-3rd andnot just a shortened shaft right? have been interested in getting one of those but they are around the $300 mark last i checked. i need to get my diff done with lsd and higher ratio gears and desperately need to do something about the lack of flow at the throttle body.

AU XR snorkel.. home made cold air induction plumbed into the bottom of the lower air box.. and a 3 inch mandrel bend intake to the throttlebody should sort you out!...

part the way there got the bigger snorkel and a bit of 3" pipe from airbox back but its the tiny little hole (maybe 35mm) that is left at the throttle body because of the mixer ring. hence the pm re: the twin throttle body setup. if i can get a second throttle body hooked up it will in asense increse my throttle body size to the size of a regular throttle body maybe even a litlte bigger, but i fear i am going to run into some pretty big drama's with two throttle bodies. other possibilities include an injection system which will cost a few grand, or get another throttle body made up that would accomodate the extra air flow. could take a pic of the throtle body if it would help.

been awhile since an update but its been worth the wait! finally got around to sorting out my diff after speaking to a tuner he recommended i change ratio before i go putting on a big angry new gas system. so give it a few weeks to sort out some funds and its to the dyno and go from there its whether i need to fit a better throttle body and mixer setup or an tuned aftermarket ecu. and replaced my broken(due to backfire) high flow panel filter with a K&N one. so now i can add to the list 3.7 diff gears and LSD im having so much fun driving the ute but i'll have to attack the issue with the incorrect speedo due to the ratio change.
