Its gonna be roughly 15-20 for the engine then another 15+ for engine management plus fitting and tuning

Let me tell you it will be 15-20 for parts for the engine, then 8-10 on top of that to assemble it. Thats before it even goes into the bay. I dont want to put you off, but just be aware that what ever you have budgetted for it, double it to be safe.
Brett

Thanks for the info Brett, haven't really set a budget as i know that the engine is only part of the process, still got trans, diff, driveshaft, axels, body strengthening and other mods on top of that. while i do the engine i will be getting the car respayed plus a full interior overhaul. overall budget is prob about $100,000 so roughly got anywhere up to 60 for the engine. aiming for a full show car that whips anything down the 1/4 and can still be driven down the shops :D

I got quoted up for 20k so thats Dart block, AFR 225 heads and the works, so from intake manifold to HV sump 20K then another 10k for Autonic SM4 and ignition components installed and tuned, alloy radiator a few other fidly things in the engine bay.

So 30-33k is for everthing in the engine bay complete tuned and running plus the rest HAHAHAHA

We boys have a expensive hobby

Have you considered getting all your engine parts from the states???

I'll be considering www.summit.com as they seem to be relaible and trustworthy.

MICKYYYY, gonna get discuss with the engine builder about the settup then purchase parts myself and take it all to them to build, install and tune. allready ordered the block and it is on its way from summit as we speak :D

Banarcus, we are not talking about building 200hp toy engines, when your talking 500+ hp and $30k+ engines i would prefer it to build by a professional. if it was just a rebuild of current engine i would do myself as i spent my teen years building 351 clevos with my older brother

Thats awsome, let me know via here or pm on taxes and so on and how it was to deal with summit.

Look's like its better to get parts from the states when our dollar is strong so u can save money which can go 2 other things.

I'm sorry to say that our dollar is s**t-house now and whether you buy your parts from a shop or from the states, you're going to be paying big bucks either way. The aussie dollar dropped 7c overnight!

If your block is on the way now, then you were probably lucky enough to order it with a reasonable exchange rate.

I'll be keeping an keen eye on this build. Good work MY347.

I'm sorry for sounding like a d**k. Whether you're talking about $3000 alloy heads or cast iron E7s, the same principles apply. Also goes for the big dollar pistons and rods too and anything else with the bottom end. I'm a machinst by trade and speak with experience. Just don't want to see you getting ripped off by some of the experts out there. All good mate :)

Scaffy, due to current dollar and an estimate of import taxes gonna be cheaper to buy here, so i contacted summit and cancelled order, they were fine with it as they hadn't actually ordered it themselves. Dodged a bullit on that one. :D

Banarcus, thanks for the info mate, i'm looking at sending the car to perth and getting BPT to build the engine and do the work. I apologise for the b**ch tone of my previous post.
