Yeah I was surprised by the difference between mine and his. My lane was owned by an old guy which he said up to about 120k km he stopped getting it serviced by ford here in launceston. Ford should have it on record then shouldnt they? My stepdads lane is ex goverment and has only done about 110k km I think and that was kept up to date with ford in victoria. He checked that him self but now he services it himself.

I couldnt find a forum for the voltages from the ecu for the gearbox as it was probably to long or badly worded.

Did the pictures help out and did I miss anything?

What would they have on record sorry? I didn't get that? Do you mean the service history? if so then probably not, you might be able to go in and ask though, they may have an archive or somthing, but generally the only personal record of a car is in the service books if they were kept with it.

I see there is an extra slot added for the 4 speed so each gear dose have a separate slot in the inhibitor switch.

Did it change into 3rd while you had it manually in 2nd or somthing?

Is your stepdads a NA as well or the AU in the earlier pics?

The service history, when it was changing manually it would stay in the gear I wanted. If I wanted 2nd it would stay there unless I needed it in first then it would kickdown when it needed to. Same for 3rd and 1st it would stay in gear. Unless I used more throttle. His is the au

Maybe the extra weight of the AU ups the fuel a little.

By the sounds of it a new switch wouldnt hurt it... im a little confused though at to what it is/isnt doing right?

Yeah when I pulled the switch apart all the tabs that hold it together were either broken or the bits the tabs grab on to were broken. Well sometimes I can change down manually then other times it wont.

Cleaned up the extractors abit better too im thinking of using some metho or something to help clean them as all I did was use a cloth.

It may be that the ECU senses if it shifts when you click the shifter back it would over rev or not be happy in some way...

that will be the problem if the new switch dosn't change things.. that's my guess anyway..

see how it goes after that.

Sometimes when I was driving spiritedly and I clicked back coming to a stop it would take a second for the car to slow by the brakes before it would downshift.

somtimes it would do it instantly and do a compression lockup

What are you trying to clean off the extactors? dirt? paint? they look like they have a little bit of rust spots but pretty sweet otherwise..

you can try all you want to clean extractors. in 2 weeks they'll be worse. Only way to keep them half decent is get them coated

^^^ Agreed.

Just get them coated or painted.

Bare metal will always get some sort of marks and blemishes, rust spots and oil burn marks.

The paint on them was like a powder but underneath was a good coat of paint. They have been fitted as well but either way it looks and flows better. Got the new inhibitor switch and fitted it and I now have no problem changing down manually.

What would be the best way to increase torque in my lane? To those who are going to say toss the 3.9 go away I like it and I dont have the cash to. What I want is a quicker take off because im p****d off that I can compete with this one a*** hole at school who drives a rusty vl. Who is always pulling up next to me revving the guts out of his rb30 then leaving me in his dust. His is also an auto.

Good to hear the switch worked.

Now, unfortunately. The log manifold is terrible down low. A cam an ECU chip will boost your low down. The other thing you can do will be to go to EL BBM and ecu if you want to keep it cheaper.. But even that will probabl still be eaten by a VL.

Remember your in a cruiser. Not a racer. You have a heavy a**..

The RB30 is a quick motor, and the VL is light.. That's all the driver has over you.. I f**k hate VL owners.. The cream of the bogans..

He's probably racing you cos his piece if s**t can't beat anything else other than you.. Lol..

Ignore him and he can f**k off and race somthing that is more in his (lack of) class..

Quicker diff.
EL engine
Manual or tighter auto
Cam and tune.

But even that may not get him.

I'm not even sure mine after all theses similar mods could beat a VL by much. Maybe with a supercharger...

Or wait a few weeks and he'll crash it or blow it up rofl.

Just keep a level head, let him waste his fuel. And know your a better class of man.
