Ill check in a few minutes. Im just gling to enjoy knowing I beat the vl. Ill tell you the everything that happened.
I was at the light and he pulled up next to me he reved his car I wound down my window said hi then the light turned green he floored it and I cruised off the line. Now here in launceston for those of you who dont know there are a few sets of lights down this one street. So he had to stop at the next set of light and I cruised pass him with my music pumping I slowed down for the next set of lights the last set before a highway. I got down to 20km/h and he pulled up justin front of me and stopped I was in the lane next to him so I put the lane in first the light turned green he toke off and came up next to me yelling your cars s**t and slowly drove off at this point we were doing about 40 me knowing my lane can take 1st gear at about 70 I put it back into first put my foot down and went flying passed him. Now I can only do 80 on my p's same as this prick in the vl now I heard his vl change down about 2 gears and he was gunning it me now in fourth put the lane back to second and left him behind me I got up to about 130 and he was closing in fast. I put my foot to the floor and kept going I got to 150 and thought f**k it im not losing my license because of this prick so I slowed right down and be flew past me. He got just out of sight and I heard a bang and I quickly caught up and pulled over to make sure he was alright and this prick yelled at me and said it was all my fault and to f**k off. So I got back in my car now 3km from any house I drove up next to him and said if you want I can take a look and see whats happened. He says what ever and opens the hood I pull up In front of him and check just to find his vl is turboed and his head had blown down onto his turbo and broke it off the manifold. I chech the head bolts 2 were missing and the rest had sheared off I get him to help me lift the head off the turbo and thats how I found his turbo had broken off. I turn to him and say this is f**k and isnt repairable on the spot if at all. He looks at me and yells f**k off I know it isnt repairable now leave me the f**k alone. I said fine got in the car then yelled back I wont see you at scool then and drove off. Morale of the story service your car because if it was it would have eaten me alive being turboed and dont be a d**k when your offered help.

What would be the best way of increasing my low end torque so it peaks low down about 1500 rpm because of launceston being so hilly if im facing up a steep hill and want to take off it takes for ever. Would a j3 chip do what I want? Remember im not looking at a conversion or anything like that right now. When I decide I want to do a conversion it will only be putting in a manual box.
So what would give me what I want?
j3, cam what I just dont know?

Cant afford a charger but I want to buy a falcon ute and do that up with everything one day. Would holding my foot on the brake then accelerating work so the revs come up then I release the brakes. Im running a trans cooler to take the heat from the stall converter I know my torque should peak around 3250rpm but that doesnt mean where the stall converter stops does it?

Winding up to stall (holding the brake and bringing the revs up) is used for better launch. But it will f**k the auto quicker..

J3s are pretty simple, clean out the port and plug it in.
You can tune your own but for you I'd recommend just ordering one. You will need to get a cam though to get any decent performance out of it though..
The only point to getting one without getting upgrades is if you want an economy tune to save some more fuel..

Do some research and reading abou autos, will save asking on here over and over.

Good job on the coil refit. Should be easier to replace, and won't die as fast from the heat.

he is thinking about getting my custom grind cam which is great for low/midrange. only issue is its not an off the shelf grind, so will need to run my tune on the j3 first until he can get a dyno run for a retune off Jase

What happens if by some slim chance something goes wrong and my engine has something go wrong to the point of it being f**k I cant afford another engine.

shouldn't go wrong, I can richen it up a touch to be safe, then once you get a dyno run it can be redone from there. but as I said, its up to you. I wasn't looking at selling the cam just yet, but you said you were after something to make the torque peak in the lower revs. if you want you can wait, and I can test it on a few cars first before doing a tune for you.

That sounds like a decent plan with the cam.

As I've mentioned earlier though you need to decide for sure what you want bro.

Do you want a racer or a reliable cruiser?

I have tried to keep the balance and in its time I blew a head gasket, and after swapping my engine it stripped the auxiliary shaft. Now I'm gonna have somthing a little more powerful and as with all balances, power sacrifices reliability.
80-90% if my driving is mild, the other 10-20 is hard, I don't wind it past 5,000 rpm but do get spirited with the clutch and corners
I have the ability to repair anything with confidence and have avenues to get parts cheap.

Your story may be different, your younger and it's fair enough your concerned about some issues being really bad for you.

From what I've learned just do basic bolt on mods. A cam and chip would be as far as I'd go expense wise, that should keep you happy till you can get your ute  of corse do the usual plugs and leads as well.

Hypothetical sitations are endless... You could lose control swerving for a dog and launch through someone's house tomorrow
s**t happens, and you just have to take life as it comes. Don't be too concerned about things that "might" happen.

By the sounds if it Ranga knows way he's doing. It's all down to your wants from the car and your money situation..

Also Ranga, what are the specs on that camshaft?

That would be better that way its closer to spot on and safer to driveand ill be confident on driving until I get a better tune after getting a dyno.
