Hey guys, long time no see.

Recently picked up a 1993 NC Fairlane 6cyl

Going home, only to find it needs the head gasket done, so main plans will be as follows.

Initial plans
- EL engine with full BBM/Serpentine belt/thermo fan conversion.
- manual conversion (but may go auto again first)
- superlows
- sports exhaust

then:
- DL LTD wheels or nice 18s or 19s
- Later model leather interior and door trims. (Either ef/el fairmont or nf/nl lane)
- cam/j3 chip

And finally
- Replace bonnet and boot with straight ones
- fix graze on drivers rear door and dogleg
- respray in Cardinal Red including body colour trim and door handles.

Major rule with anything I do is that the AC has to work afterwards. I'm expecting a regas but I'd like to be able to keep me and my 4 year old cool in the heat.

Still deciding whether to stuff around with having the gas system set up with the new motor or just getting it removed completely. I would like the boot space back and it's almost due for testing anyway.

Considering they were $40,000 20 years ago...

Jealous of your wood grain.... Mines all cracked.

They've definitely depreciated a little bit over the years...

Haha, yeah this stuff is mint ;) just the odd small indent on it and that's it.

I think there's a set on eBay for $40 at the moment that is pretty good (just from memory)

Ok, so I was wrong.
Problem isn't the head gasket, transmission and coolant bottle are both full of coffee.

Is there anything special that has to be done differently on a fairlane compared to a falcon for a manual conversion?

Haha, thanks mate.
Ultimate plan will be t5, going to do a Flush of this box in the hope it's still good, since it's still working like a dream.

But i do have some cemented plans now, thanks to my brother.

Is a bit long term, and means I will have to wait a while before I can do much, but he's agreed to sell me his EF for $600 when he has saved enough to upgrade.

This will give me
- pacemaker extractors (not sure if they're comps or not)
- great sounding exhaust I can use the muffler from for this car.
- SL springs
- EF engine and 4 speed auto
- 17" wheels

Plus plenty to part out and make some money back.

Add to this my further plans
- cam (unsure what, need to research)
- J3 to run cam/exhaust
- put dizzy in the ef and run it like an EL motor, with bbm/thermos/serp belt
- 80% later model interior (all but dash and carpet )
- repair dents/replace damaged panels
- respray

There's more info on the engine, but I'll add that tomorrow

A donor car makes everything easier..

But that looks like a solid sensible plan.

Heaps of goodies already saved on too with the exhaust and SLs..

The evolution of the DylbyMobile begins....

Haha, dylbymobile. Love it.

Yeah, exhaust and superlows pretty much covers the $600 alone.

Engine will need some work, as it's making some top end noise, but I'll be stripping it and freshening it up so all should b good.
Haven't seen the car in a few months so can't remember too much of what the noise was.

May have a bonnet and boot sorted too. Dad is currently deciding what future his fairlane has after his gearbox s**t itself today.

Well, I managed to stray fairly enormously from my plans for this over the past few days.

May have put a deposit down to get this:

No real goodies with the rest of the car, but comes with a good V8, auto trans, all the wiring etc etc. for a full v8 conversion!

Also picking up an LTD grill soon for it.
