Cliff, do it!!

Tell her that you'll get her a $3100 ring that comes with a free supercharger kit. Buy her a cheap ring and give me the money for the blower! ;)

You can tell why I'm single sometimes can't you! ha ha

$100 for the ring?!!! I'm not that insane to spend that sort of money on jewelry.
I'm thinking if I can, a $2 ring from a gumball machine at Willows...

That way I can spend the $98 saving on new oil, a filter and some of the good go-go juice for the car

Brett: I'll shoot you a PM with info about the parts and machining costs.

Wild-EL: I did it two ways, one was to pour boiling water over the lens around the edges (where the glue is) and then as it softened just pull it apart slowly slowly. I did it that way because I still lived on campus at uni at that stage and didn't have an oven. Which brings me neatly to the other way I did it; put the whole thing in the oven for a few minutes, then same thing, just pry it apart slowly. Putting it back together I just stuck it back in the oven to soften the glue again then pushed it back together. Never leaked at all.

Mad_keen: 2 things; 1. Because of the work thing, the car won't be at Ingham car show. Not a hope in hell of getting all this work done (my parts of the job I mean, Brad will smash his stuff no worries) by May. 2. It's a trick, he isn't actually in Newell St any more.

Cliff: Either or...

Yeah mate, I'll make every effort to be there regardless. It's usually a good arvo out. Let out your inner bogan and go watch some burnouts and boobs! ha ha

Any, there's some progress starting to happen. Spoke to the panel beater the other day and it looks like I will be dropping the car up to him on my week back. It'll be a tight schedule, I arrive back from Perth on Tuesday at 10.45am, need the car in Cairns with all the spare parts I've accumulated by close of business Tuesday. Dinner with the olds. Fly back to Townsville Wednesday morning to meet up with a friend who is coming up to visit!

But this way, it means he can do the paint, which he expects will be about 5 or 6 weeks, while I don't need the car cause I'm in WA. Seems like a good compromise.

And for a vote fellas, I need help (not that kind of help you sick bastards!!).
What bonnet should I put on the car?
A) Kurnell Kustoms BA bulge bonnet; or
B) Stock EL XR with the vents

I've already got the XR bonnet sitting at home. I've always loved the idea of putting a BA bulge on it, but the ones I've seen in person (a long time ago) always looked kinda... bland almost. They need more definition or detail I think. Adam (Kurnell Kustoms) can't put the XR vents into the bonnet for me.

Keep in mind, the car will look like a neat, stockish car from the outside. It'll be poly green with a nice set of wheels and a full XR kit.

So which bonnet?? Vote now!

Get the xr bonnet on it with the sequential scoop that xrfairmont is working on at the moment.
Maybe even a buldge in it as well...

Check it

Get the bonnet bulge. But the bonnet needs something to break it up so id put those bulge stickers on. Or just get a bulge grafted onto the xr bonnet

I think the BA bulge will either turn out to be a little bleh, or it will look out of place with the rest of the car.

The EL XR gear IMO is pretty much perfect with regards to looking tough but not being over the top.
The "stealth" sequential scoop from that link would suit the car well. Especially with a boot lid lip spoiler.

I have to agree with you Brad, the more I think about it, I reckon the BA bonnet would look out of place or just somewhat wrong.

Thanks guys.

Now to see if those sequential scoops will be ready in time... ;)

Go the XR bonnet.
The bulge only looks good when you go with the BA GT front bar and body kit conversion.

Should be seeing some shiny stuff soon.

Small update. The cylinder head has been delivered to the machine shop. After a phone call today valve sizes have been decided on and have been ordered.
Once they arrive the seats will be cut and I will have the head back for porting.

When said shiny stuff arrives the block and crank will be handed over and work will begin.

Nick, Your shinny stuff is sitting in box at work.
You're engine is stripped and on monday it will be given to the machine shop.
Your valves about 3 weeks away. 41mm exhaust and 48mm intake (1mm over size)

Ohh, and just so thing thing couldn't go %100 to plan for the second time, Email from spool said that couldn't get the CP pistons in the right size, (wish they had added that into the first email when they told me they couldn't get eh Ross pistons in that size.
There are a set of Mahle pistons in the box with the rods, Cost is the same as the CPs.

The gear from Atomic hasn't been delivered yet.
