Got a little bit done today, made a pair of crush tubes from stainless steel for the forward hanger brackets.
Removed the fuel tank....it had nearly 20 litres of the old Red Super fuel in it...18 years old that fuel, and still smells like petrol... :D .....might see how it goes in the mower... 8-)

Removed the engine 'K' frame, cleaned up the washers & bolts for it, and they are in the zinc plating tank as I type this....as well as the bolts for the forward hangers.
The electric fuel pump I had on it......it still works after 18 years of sitting... ....it's a Peirburg.

I finally plated the front hanger brackets that I made.
I have also finished making the Acetal Delrin bushes too for the rear suspension.
I'm in the process of cleaning and painting the spring leaves.

Ta Mad......I'm in the process of making a Torsion Bar extractor tool....so I can swap over 'K' frames.
I'm still doing the leaf springs....takes ages to get the surface rust off, then Rust Converter them, then wash and prep, prime, and then paint.
The paint takes about 3 weeks or so to harden......same paint as what the calipers are painted.
I got new centre bolts, and U bolts.

The K frame has been taken back to bare metal and resprayed in 2 pack gloss black.
It took me 2 days to get it all to bare metal, and remove all sharp edges and welding spatter.
It was welded together with stick welders back then, and they didn't even knock the slag off...???
Luckily, the welds were all good..... :D

The rear brake drums are done, all derusted, buffed to remove rough casting feel, and smooth off rough edges.....painted them inside and out....I don't like rusty lookin stuff.
I know in the last pic they look orange, but they are red....thats the late afternoon sun on them.

Pad area ?????.....you mean the brake shoe friction surface ??.....easy, remove the masking tape, then wipe over with Brake Cleaner to remove the sticky residue of the tape..... :D

Today I got started on making an electronic dizzy for the slant 6.
I'm using the guts from an XD xflow dizzy, the gear from the slant, and the body, I'm making from a chunk of alloy.
The dizzy cap for the slant is 65mm, and the xflow one is 88mm.....that is the mounting diamemter.
So, the slant dizzy size is not good for running big spark.
Luckily, they share the same dizzy shaft size of 12.5 mm.
I have NOS Ford dizzy bushings I bought nigh on 20 years ago....p# XD 12120 A....I'll be using them for the shaft bushes.
