I have also assembled the rear springs for the car now.....and I did a little trick with the righthand rear.....it has 2 half leaves that aid in traction.
Chrysler did this in the US with certain models in the late 60's early 70's....that had big blocks and auto trannys. The 2 half leaves don't add to the ability of the spring pack to hold up the car. I fitted new slipper pads, and new centre bolts....and I made new wrapper bands from s/s. The leaves were all sanded/buffed, and rust converted, then buffed again, primed and painted...all individually.......took me ages... They are now bagged n tagged for later installation. Thank you for the comments gents.
Did a little more on it today....mainly measuring....you know....measure twice, cut once....in this case measure about 5 times, and cut once. It isn't easy trying to line stuff up the same as it was in another body, when there are no proper datums to measure from.....but I'll get there.....eventually.... I have managed to get it to line up in such a way that the cap retaining clips will miss being in contact with the block, the oiling hole for lubing the bushes is in the right spot, and I managed to drill & tap the holes for the Stator, and put a locating notch in the body for the dizzy cap. Now I'm up to the point of making the dizzy cap retaining clip mounts now....rather tricky too. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The dizzy is now assembled and finished.....just waiting on new genuine Bosch parts, namely, Cap, rotor & module.
I will be mounting the module up on the inner guard on a heat sink, as there is no room for it down near the dizzy. In one pic, is the old dizzy that it will replace. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I also finished rebuilding the steering coupling too.
I disassembled the original coupling, beadblasted the reuseable bits, zinc plated them, and fitted the new parts as required.....ready for installation later on. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Ta SWC........... I've started on making a steering column for it....I used an XF one that I had sitting here.
I want a colapseable one for safety's sake. I've made a Nylon bushing for the bottom of the column, and a complete alloy upper section to hold a proper bearing for the shaft. I haven't any decent pics yet....and it's been damn hot here...47*C in the shed..... I gotta work out what I'm goin to use for a steering wheel yet..... Done a bit more on the ol girl....steering column stuff and an ignition module heat sink.
That steering wheel boss, it's a SAAS one, and it was rough cast with powder coating on it, so I skimmed it to look smoooooth. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I finally got round to doin a bit more on the steering column.
I made a go-between piece to tidy up the upper column. I started out with a chunk of alloy, 100mm in diameter, and 80mm long. At one end, I had to bore a 67mm hole, 46mm deep.....took a while. Hopefully the steering wheel will show up on Monday. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks Gents.
Got the wheel today, and had to make it fit....5mm holes, 1/4" UNC threads in the boss.. Half an hour with a 1/4" round file sorted that out....all good. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I had some old heavy axles.....very rough forging, and out of balance too.....not anymore...
I removed the wheel studs, the old bearings, smoothed them out, and beadblasted the flange ends. I roughed them down, then ran the angle grinder down them for a smoother finish. I buffed and beadblasted the wheel studs too, and put a light zinc plating coat on them. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
