I got a liitle done today before I have lunch and head off to work.........
I made a g'box extension housing plug for the 4sp box i'll be using.....I don't have a spare slip-yoke. Then started on making the parts for the lefthand engine mount. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

More pics...................
The plate sitting on the K frame isn't alloy, it's a piece of 75mm x 5mm RHS...which just happens to be the right size and shape, the same as the bottom of the original engine mount. In the lathe chuck is a piece of Hollow bar that I will bore out to make the outer shell for the bushes. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

{USERNAME} wrote: I'm starting to think about making a dizzy, using the guts from an XD electronic dizzy ( already have one of these), but using an EA to ED cap and rotor (I have heaps of these)......yet to do some measurements.....I need the cap to be large enough, so I don't get a high energy spark jumping to 2 terminals at once. The size limit will be how close it (the cap) will be to the block, and the inner guard of the car. I have a chunk of alloy round big enough to make a new dizzy body....and I have a bunch of genuine steel dizzy gears for a slant 6......just gotta work out a design. First things first.....make my engine mounts......I have made the bushing centre tubes from an old shockie shaft from a Commodore....22mm hard chromed shaft, with a 1/2" hole in the guts for a 1/2" UNC grade 8 CAT bolt.

The hand isn't goin too bad....but, it does hurt when I use a hammer....and I haven't used a 3/4" tension wrench wound up a bit yet either, only used it on 230 ft/lb. Pics of the engine mount as of tonight............ I have modified an existing LH engine mount bracket....not yet finished reshaping....and finished machining the outer bush shells ( has 0.5mm crush on the bushes ).......added bonus, I found a piece of 75mm x 6mm flat bar about 700mm long tonight... .....that'll come in handy for the side plates of the mount. The RH engine mount is more difficult....not as easy to get to, and a little less room.

That is some nice work.
Great to see real mods happening on a build other than sticking a sticker on or such. Keep up the great work. |

Thanks SWC.
Today I built the RH engine mount....just needs blasting and painting....but for the moment they need to be in place to see about making a tailshaft loop. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
