I will be removing unnecessary stuff....like the boot lid hinges and the torsion spring mounts for it ( drill the spot welds out for them). The seat is a SAAS Racing seat....brand new.....scored it for $100, 2nd hand, with mounts...... I'll add another crossmember at the back where the rear seat went.....they had one originally...it was part of the floor. you took out the double skin piece?? ohh boy why remove the hinges etc?? ok i can understand the hinges done to remove weight but then what will be used to hold the boot lid in place?? Only the inner skin of the double skin. I want to make a fibreglass bonnet (with integral bonnet scoop) and boot lid.....as far as I know, thats all I'm allowed for non-steel panels........I asked about making the rear doors as f'glass skins, and was told that I would be in another class if I did that. The only electronic help I can have is the ignition.

[yes i know its hard ta find in good condition] how much weight would you save on the rear with a fibreglass unit? & what cam are you allowed with the ignition?? and - was that inner or outer skins?? how would you go with a thinner panel on the inside [ie cutout original & replace with a thinner?]??? |

I have heard it is very difficult (if not impossible) to get a head gasket for the alloy block slants.....and they didn't make many of them either. I'm using an Erson Hiflow AM cam. The f'glass bonnet and boot lid will be way lighter than the originals. As for the door skins, thats outers. The doors I have are to good to cut up.

Mad2 wrote: do you have anything in place to hold the car in place so it dont twist?? The car does have extra bracing from the subframe joiners, then theres the roof, and the sills.....I will put some bracing in as I get a bit further. The engine stand now has wheels and an extra post....so now there are 4 posts to attach the engine to. It's now under the house and out of the weather. The car is now back up on stands ready for further dismantling. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I finally got to do some work on the drag car today.
First off, made tooling for removing and installing the Upper Control Arm bushes. Removed the bushes, pulled the bushes apart, made special Nylon inserts, pressed them together, and refitted them into the UCA's.....well......one side....still got the other side to do yet. The old rubber one is on the left. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
