Bugger --- Why does I not notice replies in some threads until everyone has finished their cuppa's and moved on to other relevant things?

I put a bid on coz it seemed like a good idea at the time... And, I guess it ain't that gooder of an idea after all. It's seemingly going to be a waste of space, which could possibly just be thrown at NZEA out of sympathy for his OTT bright red gearboot....... Although he'll probably throw it back, which means it'll be back on trade me in next to no time......

A word of warning... When you are convinced you are not going to win an online auction, MAKE SURE YOU AREN'T GOING TO WIN BY **NOT** PUTTING A BID ON.

Those cupholders aren't bluebird ones. I copied Ghia5L a couple of weeks ago, and put some Bluebird ones in mine. The model they're from is the U13, the last model of Bluebird they sold here

Here are mine:

By the way, in those pics, my car's in 1st, so there's still about 3cm between the shifter and the cupholders. Good job with yours anyway. Gotta love the cupholders!

Ah true, yeah my stick is a complete guess so the sngles probably wrong. I have since bent it more anyway for better clearance. Not to worried as a short shifter is on the cards soon as I can justify the measley amount of money...

NZEA found these cup holders in an engine bay at a wreckers. They are not BLUEBIRD or anything else Nissan, but could be an old Subaru or something. Anyway, he found them and looked and thought - "Hey, that may fit in the fascia of the EA"

He then made them fit.

You don't need a degree to see this is a good idea, and although others may have done similar you are just as likely to go find an old cup holder out of something odd like a Honda Legend or something and make it fit...

By the way - Those Honda Legends have cool center boxes with all sort of folding stuff.... Maybe one of them would fit your square old box car interior while you're there?!!!!

Yeah man, be good if you had a pick a part down there xfwagon, you could just go looking and find something really cool. A little birdy told me theres a car out there with cup holders that come out verticaly and then spin 90 degrees. If you want my particular ones I'm pretty sure it's from a suby.

Bloody hell I really haven't done much on this thread. The car has EF fairmont door trims and rear seat, power window conversion, red dash lights, thermo fans, pod in box, all the usual s**t...just gotta find my phone cable so I can take pics and put them up...

You'll just need the cupholders themselves. I found a set at the wreckers for $8! On ebay they're around $30. I also grabbed the 4 screws that hold them in. You then have to cut the back out of that useless cavity in the stereo surround. You have to cut a couple of bits out of the top too, and then I just screwed the cupholders into the surround using the original screws.

Thanks ea_silver_ghia. On mine I cut out the bit directly beneath the stereo and then secured the back of the unit to the back of the stereo and the two front tabs on the unit to the side of the main plastic with some self tappers(same main bit the stereo slides into). No pics so ea_silver_ghia wins

Edit: Mine are cooler cos I press the button in the middle and they spring out 8-)

Sorry matey, without pics it didn't happen

With these cup holders, do they get in the way of the manual shift?

:o Pics two pages back! Haha

Mine don't anymore since I bent it some more, but my stick is completely "custom" so who knows with the real one....

Someone said a couple of comments ago that with those bluebird ones mounted where hes got them, lower than mine, they don't foul on the stick.

Hope that cures your curiousity, actualy I'll just quote myself so the pics come up again :D

Ok here:

So...time to buy some tyres. I need 205/65/R15. Any opinions on the Supercat? I can get these for $100 each fitted.

I reckon they're a good budget tyre to be honest. When i did my stint working at Firestone a couple years back, we used to sell them quite often. Dunno what the performance (wet weather handling, road noise etc) of them was like though, but they'd be up there with other good branded tyres of the same price i would think.

Not a bad price fitted either, are they including the balancing too?

True thanks for that. Yeah thats balanced and fitted. Another $45 - $65 for an alignment depending on whether they gotta shim cos I put lows in. I didn't think you had to do much with camber on just lows with the EA's but I guess we'll see.
