the more i read into turbo vs supercharger, the more i like the idea of a supercharger... but reliability is still a big hurdle to over come before i even start to save the $ i will need...

If it is done right from the start there are no drama's. The problem was tune initially, and then a bad bottom end. VCT is getting rebuilt to take boost and will be tuned 100% from the start.

random question, but did that ute have an after market cam? have you got much knowledge with VCT cams?

Nope, and there are no real VCT cams available.

rightio, so just have to make sure i dont half a**... make sure i do it properly.

and regarding the cams... DAM... :? buying a VCT over a standard 6 may have been a bad idea, why doesnt your bro/you set the charger up with the standard 6 instead of the VCT?

Basically the build will be: Original VCT block, Spool Rods, CP Pistons. Ported AU Intech head, Surecam, Autronic SM4 and a FrozenBoost "600hp" Water to Air intercooler kit. The 3rd AU bottom end here will be stripped down, acid dipped, honed and re assembled using EL Pistons and Rods as a spare motor just incase the worst happens.

Doing it properly is the only way to go. This setup will get the battery relocated and a catch can in place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your not going to use the VCT unit right? So why use a VCT 6, why not build up your standard 6?

so had it have been a standard 6, you would have had no problem in using that for the same purpose?

No problems at all. The blocks are exactly the same.

It should go quite well. I'm expecting low figures, but reasonable times and decent fuel economy. The Intercooler will be top mounted above the rocker cover, with the heat exchanger remote mounted under the tray. The modified 4480's on my Fairlane will move over to the ute when I get my conversion done.

Things are going slowly. Pending a few events happening in the future, this will be ready to rise in a big way around August. Parts are being acquired, my brother wants tio beat my Turbo NC.

Not being sold. My brother had a win in an international comp that gave him some rather serious play money. He's throwing around numbers like 18psi and aiming for 300rwkw. He'll need every one to hook up to challenge my 250rwkw turbo 6!
