Well, the engine got here today. Looking at it, I'm thinking there may be some bonnet clearance issues..... Oh well, hang some of the magnesium manifold out of the bonnet and see how many people realise something is up if that's the case. If some law officials dislike it, then it will cop a reverse cowl about 2" high.

Why not put the reverse cowl on it BEFORE there are law issues?
No point the car getting marked.

Leaving that call to my brother. I'd do it before there are issues myself. Just going to wait until it's in the car to see what it needs.

i am just converting from ba v8 to turbo 6 ,and the wire ring is not going to be easy for you at all . all i had to do is swap over the wire ring harness from the turbo wreck (behind the dash and engine bay and control module under radio and ignition key ) still have not finished the swap over so do not know if it will start .you will find this is going to cost a lot of money due to fuel lines -air con - oil lines- power steer cooler and lines .had to change all of them as well .the way i would attack the build is buy a wrecked ba bf same model as the engine came out of and get all the wire ring from it ,and swap it over.its not that hard to do ,just takes a lot of time  .best of luck with it . ps its lots of fun when you start bolting it all back together part by part .i have used a lot of zipup bags and zipties (they have tags on them from bunnings ).i use numbers on them and write in a note book where it was from and what it does .also every bolt is in a bag with where it came from written on it with marker .and lots of pictures help to. hope this information will help ,and don't listen to the knockers on this web site that only have changed a spark plug in there whole live and think they now it all . it your build not theres

There is no loom. this isn't a factory engine, and it won't be running a factory ECU. Will be running a Haltech Elite, With Deutsch Autosport connectors and MIL Spec wiring. Not running Aircon at this stage, but may do in the future.

Fuel lines will be all Speedflow anyway, due to a switch to E85. Already have an idea of what it will cost, and it's expected to blow out. There is ALOT of custom work in this, and a majority of it can be tackled at home until we step to the wiring, exhaust and tuning. This is probably one of the most expensive builds on this site in a long time.

Brakes, rear suspension upgrades (Tramp rods, anti tramp plates) Haven't been priced, as they are not released from our source yet. The only factory componentry remaining will be a B series rack, and B Series XR8 power steering lines.

It won't make any Powercruise events this year. Being realistic, I don't expect this to be finished until early next year simply because it's Damn expensive. So far, it's $13k in with just the engine and box. Being realistic, if this is done for under $35k then it's under budget. Yes, it's expensive, but it's also future proofed because I know my brother, and what he has in store.

There is sacrifices made to build this. Due to his line of work, he is actually living off $35 a week, but it allows big money to be pumped into this. One of the sacrifices made, is he had to sell his daily, which is now mine.

Once this hits a 10.99 pass, that's it until he's developed a bit of a property portfolio. With the manual, it won't go 10's NA, more like mid to low 11's, but with the right gearing and tyres, it should trap upwards of 120mph.

Being a ute, getting the power down is the challenge.
