Thanks huggie. The wood grain was in it when I got it.
Yeah its an a*** pain about the joint but hey what can you do? Im worried if Im making the right decision turning my back on the V8. I reckon eventually Ill miss the glorious V8 noise but Im just looking at what is more financially benificial at the moment. Dunno................... I spose if the 5 speed conversion doesnt looklike its going to sell by easter I might just ahve to do it and use it.

Front end is back together.....well sort of.
I actually swiped the front end out of Mr ED for the moment to get it back on the road. The spare set of stubs I will take down and have new balljoints fitted and swap them over at a later date. Need to go to the suspension place tomorrow as I managed to snap a sway bar link pin in half and none of the local spare parts shops had a link pin kit. Commodore yes. Falcoon no. I went through my other 2 front ends and didnt have a set of link pins that were not rooted That will be done tomorrow. It is now sitting on ED's lowered springs and looks pretty swank. Wil get some new pics tomorrow. It now has slotted front rotors on with new wheel bearings and pads. Very very good. Some nice person is popping over tomorrow to suss out a few things and I think I shall con them into helping me swap my diffs over. Either way the 3.27 LSD and thick wall V8 aluminium tailshaft will be in tomorrow night. Hoping to get time to put my sub and amp in tomorrow. Need something to upset the works manager at 6am Tuesday when Im getting to work.

I was having a very down moment on the whole thing last night cause stuff wasnt going right and looking at keeping the 6 as the easy and cheap option.
What the hell was I thinking!!!!!! Hav ecome too far and have too many bits floating around to back out now. Insteading of rushing in but and cracking the wobblies when I have s**t everywhaere and nothing going right Im going to make sure I have Mr ED stripped out of what I need and gone and some serious commitiment to the driveline and bits out of the cobalt monty before I strip it down. If it doesnt sell here unfortunately Ill just have to ebay it all. Will be a shame.

Josh Nah it wasnt going to be. Then I decided I must of been on drugs to make that call. It will be a V8 but just not as quick as I was originally planning. Will be sometime in the next few months but!

Take heart young Jedi, I am sure the person "popping over" tomorrow will have an ear you can bend and bounce ideas from. They have been in similar situations and may be of some help

Well fun and games had today.
Managed to get some new link pins and bushes in the morning so got them in and gave the new front slotted rotors a lick of paint. Racedirector came over to have a bopeep and give me a hand with the diff swap. We got the diff swap done in the grand total of 8 minutes!!!! Yep enough time to jack the car up , throw some stands under it and as we were about to get grunting I looked at the diff tag. ME: Hey dude we are putting a 3.27 LSD in this sucker hey? RD: Well thats what you told me. ME: Well we have a problem. RD: Which is? ME: Theres already one in it. SCORE!!!!! So once we finished that epic task we sat back had a smoke and thought how we were going to attack the next bit. Just wound up putting the thick wall aluminium tailshaft for the V8 in and swapping the new rear brakes from Mr ED over and giving them a lick of paint. After a bit more yakking and smoking cigarettes RD had to make a move. So I decided to put the sub and amp in. Well now I dunno how the stereo is wired deep inthe dash but I seem to be getting a power drop issue. On a good bass note with the stereo over anything above half it all turns off and resets itself. Looks like a new constant power feed is required. Easy fixed. Might also be forced to get a set of fusion 6.5" for the front depending on whats left of this weeks pay for toys. When I got the car the thermo fans are running off a toggle switch from under the dash. Well I found today once it was nearly dark it appears only one fan works. I swapped wiring over and the other fan works so it appears to be a wiring issue. Will put new relays and cables in tomorrow arvo. I seem to have lost the rubber sealing gland for the davis craig switch I have but. Any ideas on how I can seal where the probe goes into the radiator hose successfully without it?

I have always used silicon in the inside of the hose where he probe is inserted. Makes it easy to slip on, and then provides a nice firm, ahhh, seal.
Hmmm, sounds a bit, well, you know. BenJ
