it sounds like the exhaust is leaking from everywhere?

its only leaking from the middle muffler, the pipe that goes into it is cracked 3/4 of the way round, its getting welded up tomorrow.

theres also a tiny leak in the exhaust manifold that makes a ticking noise when i put my foot down.

and the cat is hollow from all the backfires.

well guys, this project has come to a screeching (and backfiring  ) halt.

the motor let go this morning on my way home. it just started coughing and spluttering, 30 seconds later it stalled right out the front of the cop shop and wouldnt start again. :(

i thought it ran out of LPG so i switched over to Petrol and fired it up.... managed to put my foot down and get 2000rpm, then there was all this induction sound as the revs dropped and it went f**k BANG!!! loud enough so it ECHOED at 11am on a windy day in the middle of town! lol

so there was smoke coming out of the exhaust and the intake...

took the air filter cover off and attempted to start it again... it fluttered about on a few cylinders for a second or two, with smoke coming out the intake, before going f**k BANG again... it looks like:

A) the timing has gone boonta (Aux shaft?) and the exhaust gases are escaping through the intake valves...

B) some of the exhaust valves are totally f**k and wont open at all...

C blown headgasket? (unlikely as the coolant dosent pulsate in time with the cranking and theres no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil)...

either way, im pretty sure it wont start ever again. i might pull the head off this weekend and see what has happened to it.

I think its time to manualise the EL :) lol

it would only have travelled about 160,000km by now.

i sold it in December with 138,000km on it.

although its had an absolute thrashing, the gearbox is in pretty good condition.

Get an EL engine from the wreckers and put on your manifold/s and wiring harness and it should be back to normal.

i couldnt really be f**k doing it lol.

i might just wreck it out... put the Fairmont Interior in the ED, put the manual in the EL, keep a few other bits n pieces for myself, then just wreck it :(

how much do you reckon i would get for the EA? its getting an ED Futura interior put in it tomorrow, the manuals coming out also (but 3 speed auto is going in its place).

its got an LPG system on it that has 2 years left till next retest, estimated 160,000km (cluster has 219).

its never been in a crash, all panels are good cept for a few little carpark dents here and there, the rear bumper has melted a bit.

reckon i could get $400 back for it?

I know of a EA manual that was for sale a while back three months rego and on gas went for $500.

But if the motors stuffed you'd have to find someone who's interested in the LPG system only. Put it on Ebay!

well well well.... f**k me, i got the b**ch running!

had the bonnet up on the weekend, tried heaps of s**t to get it going....

but, my mate was spraying Start Ya Bastard straight down the intake, and he dropped the can by accident and it hit one of the injectors.... and it fired for a second.

so we took the connections off and blasted them with air, put em back on and nothing happened...

so he started tapping the injector connections with the can... every tap it fired... i told him to go faster and faster, then after a while it fired enough to run on its own, and i revved the f**k out of it for a second, then it purred like a freakin kitten!

im f**k if i know why it wouldnt go before... :?

now it starts and idles like the day i bought it! what the hell? lol
