I scored a new 60 series master and slave for 90 bucks and they seem to have the same bolt pattern as the 75 series cruiser unit. Now the fun part is doing an internal to external clutch master cylinder conversion. I've got the old master put and now I'm stumped. The 4runner bracketry is different to the cruiser stuff and its rather tight in there. Any pointers?

Don't know if its bolted in or welded in? If its bolted in then I can pull it out and mod the clutch bracket. If its welded to the firewall then "gulp", that is all.

There hasn't been much action lately but there has been a bit of behind the scenes conversations happening between myself and the engineer.

After the preliminary inspection he was pretty pleased with the install, but a few issues need to be addressed.
First the engine has to come up a touch as I don't have enough sump clearance (general rule is 1 thumb width of clearance), this will be done with some 5-10mm shims to lift the engine off its mounts. I also have to reduce my body lift down from 2" to 1" as body lifts tend to amplify any vibrations from the chassis. I also need to swap the 10mm bolts out for 12mm bolts and also install 3mm steel crush tubes.

In addition to this we discussed turbo options and provided I can pass an IM240 emissions test its all good. The plan is the tried and tested Magnum Power (Formerly Master Power) T70 with 0.68A/R and a water to air intercooler. There's enough air with one of these Brazilian puppies to split the block clean in two and boost at under 3000rpm.

Sure its put things back by a month or 2 but it will be well worth it in the end.

that's all well and good.

Goaty, one question you didn't answer - does it run yet?

No it doesn't run yet. Wiring is the last job on my mind. In the mean time some more goat fab is required followed by a bit of Dazfab.

Can you give me some rough sizes for this cooler setup, in particular the radiator? I'm thinking the best place to mount the radiator would be to the bash plate and fit a mesh screen so I don't get any rocks destroying it.

Update?

Can this thread title be changed to

Project FordRunner: Another Spanner to be turned again soon?

It will be the most relevant thing to happen in this thread for a while, While on topic, Nic, I found a hood ornament for you.

Image

Unscrew the base and secure it to your bonnet. I'd come and do it myself, but I understand you are quite the expert when it comes to mounting goats!
