Wow that sentance is a bit of a oxymo, but cheers anyway
I think you're reading him wrong - he's not knocking your thread.
I didn't read much myself as a DOHC conversion I probably wouldn't do - but as he says, the pics show good detail. For someone interested and doing this, what you've put together is excellent.
Between this and GrannyFalcon's thread, the content from whoa to go is covered really well.

Years ago - a few people were claiming conversions - nobody was prepared to part with the knowledge though.[/quote]
Hi mate, yea I know he didnt mean anything buy it-just loved the wording (he had to have read the title), and I agree that this sort of knowledge should be shared-thats what the forums all about hey, cheers, Johnny.

Power steering lines:
With the BA power steering pump-the XG return line was fine but the BA pressure line had to be used (instead of XG) but needed a bit of straightening.
Engine & box after all oil drained-using the engine crane & leveler I had the both standing on the tip of the extension housing straight up in the air which seemed to have drained the torque converter aswell (which is what I was hoping for) engine was fitted with heater pipes, kelpro engine mounts & brackets + the driveshaft was ready (after a quick sand with fine emery paper on the slip yoke), the trans mount & crossmember went on after to prevent catching on anything and in engine bay they went, and because of the XG mounts/brackets/crossmember it went in quite smoothly-all bolts & holes lined up like a factory fit.

Front brakes so I can stop the bastard, new standard rotors-wheel bearings and Bendix pads (luckily Repco had the rotors on special $50 each) rotors allready pre shelled for wheel bearings (no press needed) nice and easy except for the rain.

Welded the cat up and gave it some VHT, spacing around the engine is good, except for the swaybar & the bonnet which have been sorted.later on I need to get another cat that can take a wideband O2 sensor (one in the photos is one Ive been playing with) any advice in this area would really be appreciated, , cheers - Johnny.

Engine Harness/Chassis Harness/Relays/Fans/Sensors:

The engine harness (engine to ECU, connector A on ECU), this harness does not need changing, if you were using a auto engine harness for a manual set up you could remove any unused wires but you certainly dont have to or need to.
The centre plug on the ECU which the B connector goes to is where all the changes are made(in the harness not at the plug) + the C-20 connector has some connections aswell.
So working back from the B connector all the wires needed were marked with masking tape near the connector (checking ecu pin number and wire colors as you go) following each wires end-some to sensor plugs and some to other connectors, once this is done you can start working out what can be removed and what has to stay.
The thermo fans is set up same as a BA Falcon 3-relays to run them in high and low triggered by the ECU- pins B24/blue & B35/light green.
The starter, fuel pump, hego I used the original XG relays.
One wire from the ECU pin B27 to the brown/green stripe wire on the XG fuel relay.
Hego and starter-will edit once I sort through my notes (piles of them) :|
EEC relay is used for VPWR & PWRSTN -I used the diode as per BA specs (I think the diode is used for PWRSTN)
KAPWR B40 is fused to B+
And one more relay for Ignition/coils & injectors both fused 15 amp.

Got the old instrument cluster out and put in the EB sports cluster, three wires had to be soldered in before the plugs that go into the cluster-one for tacho/oil pressure/temperature, the tacho module is in the engine bay.
Wired up inhibitor switch/starter/HEGO (o2 sensor), connected the shifter cable (had to be careful which way it was routed as its close to the drag link) and adjusted, when the gears were correct I then wired up the reverse lights.

Hi Mate, Great thread and detail in your build.
Just to let you know, By changing the grounding in the Auto form - Ground to + ground, you can still use the XG auto.
For future reference
Brett

Hi Brett/TerroristGHIA, Thanks mate, I would never have thought to do a conversion like this if not for all you guys doing build threads-so wanted to give a bit back & try and make it easier for others, besides that having a build thread will keep me motivated to keep going till I get it to where I want the ute & all on a budget too, cheers, Johnny.

Looking good Johnny,

Awesome to see another detailed thread, the Ford modding community in general need more of this knowledge for those wanting to attempt it themselves. As for the OBD2 connector, well all I can say is that I'm glad mine's in the cabin

I guess i should allocate some time for the Project EA thread.

Keep em coming :)

Unless you're like me, end up finding a $400 BA falcon, part it out to fund the conversion as well as being the major parts supply
