Hey guys, so some times you can get lucky, found a aluminum fuel cell on Gumtree and it was hard to tell how big it was-the guy was busy and for $50 it looked worth it no matter what the size was,so went and got it and Wow it is bloody big-nice thick (not too thick) aluminum and really good welds, looks to be for a carburetor set up with a fuel gauge sender has a drain and breather etc...

So after pulling out the fuel level sender I had a look inside with the torch and looks really good on the inside-but I think this may have come from a circle track race car as it has a baffle built in to the tank,2 U shape peices and the U's face the same way with a hole in one, bloody interesting hey!

So have finally got around to tack up the transmission cross member once I worked out the correct height and angle etc...but forgot to do the crush tubes in the cross piece no biggy -will knock one side off get them in position and give them a slight crush in the press to lock them in place and then retack, then I can pull it out clamp it flat and fully weld it and add the other crush tubes in the spacer pieces, but looked like it will work well, may add some gussets if necessary too.

Fuel system has been vague to say the least, but am going to be using the dual 044 surge tank filled from the fuel cell via a high flow low pressure lift pump 180 lpm and a billet fuel rail which can be fed from both ends and has a return in the middle which will go to a EPMAN fuel regulator and will all be AN6 for now. Am making my own fuel cell pump hanger for the fuel cell.

Went to the bolt shop to get some hardware for the trans mount and managed to get some shanked screw cap bolts to suit the poly mount with nylock nuts for both top and bottom bolts. As I can't have threads running inside the bushes of the poly mount. Very solid mounting now.

So crush tubes, initially I only had some really thick tube stuff which for me is better used elsewhere, and then found one of my old small floor jack handles and cut a test piece and was perfect (same thickness as the tube I was using) so I cut 6 pieces slightly oversized and then slowly grounded them to a perfect fit in the tube, then I made a tool out of wood to cut the groove for the seam weld inside the tube and to hammer them in place, doing it this way I don't need to worry about tack welding them in place.

Have all 6 crush tubes done and drilled the access holes for the upper trans bolts.

Hey guys! so still going with this damn thing- but getting stuff done, got a 1/8 NPT to AN4 adapter to run oil feed from the sandwich plate (it's only a journal bearing turbo so doesn't need alot of oil) and got some proper silicone heater hose for the coolant feed for turbo,so I still need to weld the AN10 on the hot side heater pipe-the small outlet is for the turbo then goes back to the top of the radiator on the driver's side.

So have got the trans mount in the correct position and have it fully welded (just welded it myself with the gasless mig) and it turned out really good-strong as as I tested it by smashing it on my Ibeam anvil on both sides and nothing moved.so I gave it a etch prime and some paint-let it dry overnight and just put it on then which went smoothly and it seems strong as hell!

So made a start on the dump and side exit and so far should go okay once I get the hole sorted (inner)and the hole through the driver's side gaurd.

SOOOoooooo...... I used the only bits of TP we had left (the cardboard rolls) and made a wastegate adapter to work out where the WG need to be to clear the drag link & pitman arm, once that was sorted I cut the length needed off the screamer pipe 5.5cm and used the 2 WG flanges that came with the WG and tacked it in place and did a test fit which clears everything nicely.

So I thought I'd take a picture of the hot side-n/a manifold turbo, wastegate, dump pipe etc........before I put it on fully sealed.
Luckily this won't be driven on the street as it would not last long-the sheer weight of it together is massive so first pothole you hit I think you'd be I trouble. But on an off trailer and track should be okay, will be looking for a better manifold later for sure.

So got a few things done, like the AN10 coolant lines/heater pipes done, the catch can,cut the inner part of drivers front gaurd for the side exit, also found a new problem with the engine mounts again as the sump is sitting on the front of the k frame just on the lip which I'll have to cut and there is maybe 5mm gap from the inlet manifold to the passenger side strut tower which I don't know if it's going to be a problem with the engine and gearbox fairly solid.

Just getting stuff done-slowly,have ordered a XR6T MAP sensor and the exhaust manifold center flange gasket,so whilst waiting got the manifold wire wheeled and sanded and cleaned with acetone (this stove paint stipulates that you can only use acetone to prepare for paint,no thinners or prep wash etc..)then painted with Stove Bright high temperature stove paint and can also be used for engine manifolds and mufflers etc, followed the directions and paint went on really nice compared to the VHT paint.

Nearly have all the gaskets needed for the hot side, just waiting on the troublesome centre manifold flange gasket and need another 38mm 2 bolt wastegate gasket, also got a stainless steel mig reel and should have plenty of argon left to weld the wastegate adapter, also need to weld out the dump pipe fully too (mild steel though).
