Hey guys, bit slack of late (bit crook), so concentrated on the small stuff I could do, wasn't happy with the gauge pods (hate them actually) so the pods are going back in their boxes and came up with a three gauge peice which IMO is much better, just need to sort out the wideband wiring and weld the bung in, I've heard a few times about some people just replacing the existing O2 sensor with the wideband and it somehow replicating the standard O2 signal (or something along those lines), can anyone verify? but I think this may not be the way to go, cheers, Johnny.

I quite like the work put into that cluster, seems really neat and somewhat factory looking. I once considered changing out the interior, adding band pieces as such but i love it how it is, factory blends well. While you're at it, maybe you should consider a floor mounted handbrake? It'd be damn lovely.

XG is coming along just nicely mate, consider doing a 0 - 100 run for us as it'd be great to compare with my manual time ( Which is around 6 seconds, give or take depending on gear changing speed, temp and load )

Hey Bayden, am going to get one of these I think to mount permanently-the ones on ebay are way too cheap to be any good IMO & cant afford a GoPro so this may have to do-should be fine for a 0-100 though, Johnny.

I much prefer the three pod setup as it appears to be much more cosmetically appealing, though i would think it's considerably safer to stick them on the window pillar... I know i would anyhow. Looks like a bastard of a job to try and blend that high base in with the original trim... :(

In regards to the wideband 02 sensor, I for one have never set one up as of yet. However I dare say it'd be a wiser option to just simply drill and weld a bung in the 12 o clock position as advised, i wouldn't try anything bodgy to upset the existing narrow-band 02 sensor, for obvious reasons.

Cam looks alright, seeing as it's an auto you could simply hold a camera in one hand ( facing the cluster ) and steer with the other, unless of course you're commanding gears manually...

Speaking of clusters, you've inspired me to put the BA cluster into my EA... It was supposed to be sold last week, however the guy was a no show, no point in wasting a perfectly good BA cluster  It's only an XT cluster, none the less however it still looks far more appealing than the 80's brick style. Everything seems to be working ( except the speedo transducer, as that gets the voltage from the cluster PCB ) I may solve this issue by simply resisting a 12V line into the transducer power feed, or find a 5 - 8 volt source elsewhere ) Might make an update for it... We'll see.

Keep on going though, progress is key :D Hope you're feeling better soon mate...

Hey guys, been offline for ages now-lost a heap of tools and parts in the big rains that went through the hunter valley recently so its taken a while to get some motivation again, the utes been going good with only a few small problems on the way such as shifting a bit hard due to a connection between the shifter and B33 & from the O2 sensor to B33-even though they are connected near the ECU they also needs a connection from the 02 sensor and shifter (this seems to be mainly for manually shifting), the only other problem was that it blew a transmission cooler line connector after being stuck in non moving traffic for two hours-when finally getting going home again is when it blew the connector dumping all of the transmission oil but just made it home before the oil drained completely, will have a decent update on the ute coming soon, but the ute still carried out its duties flawlessly-weight of loads so far not a problem picking up a 302 cleveland & C4 for a XE Sedan project,so far both engine and box look fairly good will no more once the heads and transmissions off.

Did you start this with a full donor car?, I'm new here, and I've been wondering about the same swap into my XG. And how hard would this be to get all legal stuff sorted? Being from the states, I never had to get anything "Engineered" ever, as long as it met Emissions requirements ( California is brutal on engine swaps ). I understand the basics of what you've done, just trying to wrap my head around the entire setup. And that gauge cluster looks sweet mate, I've been re-inspired to start looking into this swap after stumbling onto your thread.

Hey guys, just a small update, I've redone the center console, made a new lid-shifter surround and gauge peice from scratch in black vynal and repainted the console in gloss black instead of satin, the shifter cover is a solid peice which now clips in with to the EB shifter hole two in the front and one on the back and on the front in the middle it needed a guide for the shifter slider, I also painted the kick panels aswell and have gone with plain white gauges and am going to change the cluster gauge faces to white when I repair the odometer cogs, anyway heres some pics, Johnny.

Hi mate-sorry it so long to respond, when I started working it all out I was just buying bits and peices like the engine 5-speed and wiring harness and you can certainly do it that way but I ended up getting a complete BA XR6 ute which is why its now a 4-speed auto and as for engineering I'm still working all that out-but I can definitly say its a worthwhile upgrade I mean the original plan was to supercharge it "hence XG-FPV"but in all honesty its more than enough power as it is atm, cheers Johnny.

Looks very nice without the flash :)

Great job on blending the Gshift surround to the center console, should do a walk around some time.

Where's that 0 - 100? lol

Hey Bayden, yea should do that, ha and the 0-100 the bloody video is over 3 gb I cant seem to do anything with it-wouldnt even let me email it, will be changing the VSS to a AU one which will fix the auto shifts but put the speedo out which I'll correct with a Jaycar speedo corrector, cheers, Johnny.

Sounds good mate, quite similar to mine :P

You'll need to use video editing software to reduce the file size... Windows movie maker does a fine job, I tend to use power director.
