Bring the manifold across to Nepean Engines mate in Coreen Ave Penrith.
He is a nice bloke and is cheap and has a hot tank. Even if you drop in on the way to Ingleburn it might just well save you a trip.

Hmmmmm, hot tanking bits. (Looks around for stuff that needs some chemical goodness)
And isn't that the same sort of area as the Powdercoating joint? BenJ

Got a little bit done on this car this weekend too
EVL098 called by on Saturday morning and welded up the rust sections under the bonnet: I have a bit more cleaning up to do, have to then apply some spray putty or bog and then paint. Should come up OK after that me thinks Thats it for this update, I spent the rest of the weekend on my own car! Cheers RD

Looks like you got rid of that rust before it became a problem RD.

Hopefully I have knocked the rust on the head in the engine bay Josh, at least for a while anyway
Got a bit done today. The inlet manifold was stripped and dropped into Nepean Engines for cleaning. I'll have that back tomorrow. After returning from there I attacked the throttle body with various size wire brushes and carb cleaner: Looks alot better than it did but there is still a spot around the throttle arm that I can't get to. Not going to bother actually... Then I attacked the back end and replaced the beaver panel. The car has magically become a Ghia with that and the boot spear being ex-Fairmont Ghia As well as all this I cleaned and prepped all the engine plastics for painting. Hopefully tomorrow, once the manifold is back, I can return to engine assembly and have it ready to go back in later in the week. Toorah for now RD

Nice work mate.
Did old matey at Nepean Engines charge for a lot for the scrub?

Yeah he is funny but bloody nice.
He has a very nice rod too he gets around in. His old Hilux work ute was interesting. 355 Stroker.

Got the manifold back today, he didn't tank dip but sandblasted it. I spent the afternoon pulling the 2 halves apart and cleaning everything up, then putting it back together. It came up pretty good but not perfect but hey, it's not a show engine
I also stripped the fuel rail of everything, wire brushed it, cleaned it and painted it with flat black engine paint to give the area a bit of contrast. I need another plug for the distributor thingy because I accidentally broke the retaining clips off it while removing the manifold from the old engine. Yet another visit to PnP, this time with some side cutters. Once I have replaced it I will be assembling the manifold and associated bits tomorrow and fitting it to the engine. No pics at this time as it got dark quick before I got my new batteries. Will take some when the manifold is back on the engine. Cheers RD

Hey guys
I stripped the fuel rail to paint it, now I can't get the injectors back into their cups far enough to put the clips back in. Do I need new orings on that end or is there a trick to it? Pulling my hair out that any progress on this car seems to be one step forward, 6 steps back On an more positive note, I got the two stuffed plugs on the manifold loom replaced this morning - whoopie, so much progress it astounds me...... RD
