Now that would be more respectable. Whoever quoted Ben $200.00 for 4 was looking for a quick buck for beers......

Just rang a suspension place in Penrith (out by you Matt) - $70.00 for 4 - sounds good to me......

That is more like it.

The high quote I got, put me off doing the balljoints in the Red EB.

That price is enough to put any one off doing them! I've heard you can get exchange uprights too, someone is getting me a price.....

Certainly pays to have mates with presses then. I had to do the lower ball joints on both sides and I did them myself at the mates workshop for didly squat. I can't believe the prices going around.

Amen to press access.
Use a benchgrinder to put a slight chamfer on the ball joint splines before installing them - makes it a bit easier. The original ford fitted ball joints take a fair bit of pressure to get out.

Might be an idea to replace the radius rod bushes with the Superpro items

Terminology clarification....Radius Rod = lower control arm strut = strut bar ???????
SPF0869K Front Strut Bar To Lower Control Arm Kit
Yep, along with SPF0902K.

You're not wrong guys about having press access, would make life so much easier! I haven't speeched up anyone I know yet about a press, maybe I should before doing it commercially.... if I find someone I'll be bugging you guys on the method :)

Thanks snap for the clarification, I'll price those 2 kits and see if they fall into the budget. Just on the control arm bush, aren't the originals buggers to get out? Never done one so don't know....

Cheers
RD

The radius rod to lower control arm is reasonably easy. Cut the rubber lip and press it out in a vice - use an oversized socket.

Good to see you've got nearly everything sorted out now RD.

That rust is no biggy under car mate, as stated just neutralise it and make some new pieces up and weld in, give it a bit of a grind and spray with sound deadener.

Spraying fish oil inside sills is good idea also

Mmmmm BBQ lunch - i'm starting to wish i lived in Sydney again now

As mentioned in another thread, I got the ball joints done today. $75.00 to swap over 4 of them, done in just under an hour by Wholesale Suspension in Penrith. I priced the Superpro bushes while I was there but they are outside of the current budget right now - $62.55 + GST each, need 2 kits. The current ones aren't bad and the Superpro upgrade will be put onto the later list for when funds become available. Will probably do both cars....

So with the stub axels in hand, I will reassemble the front suspension this weekend then it is on to general items in the interior.

Cheers
RD

75 bucks to swap balljoints is a rip off, another 50 bucks and you could have bought your own press to do it.

Plus the attachments, spacers etc to get them in the right position for pressing. To me it was well worth it, they did all the hard work.

To my helpers and those that are coming to assist....

Saturday June 6 (this Saturday) is looking like it is going to be a fine day. Are we still on to attack the underside rust? Will get lunch things in once I know :)

Cheers Guys
Bruce

Hi Paul

At this stage still on. The weather report for this weekend is supposed to be 18-19 and fine. Even if it is wet on Friday, I have ground sheets for the driveway.
