Well done, glad to see all work is complete. You should have no trouble Monday and Rach will be a happy lady.

Handy hint on Monday morning but Bruce. Take the current plates off the car before you drive down to get it slipped.
You can legally drive to get a blue slip with no plates but if you get done driving with plates on an unregistered vehicle even to a blue slip station you can get done for "plates to decive" or something along those lines and thats a pretty big fine.
Yeah I found out the hard way a few years ago..................

Great tips guys :) The blue slip shop is only about 5 mins from my house so I am lucky there but I'll still have the old plates sitting on the front seat.

Would love to know what the olies are handy for Ash, privately of course :)

Cheers
RD

The old plates are only handy for chucking on an unregistered car out the front of your house to make it look registered are they not?.........................

Me done anything naughty with old number plates that have fallen off the system and are not in any way traceable back to me? No never!!!!

LOL! nudge, nudge, wink, wink - HA! Actually the unrego on the side of road would be bloody handy. Had one instance where I rolled a scrap car onto the road for pickup and someone reported it. Police arrived quick smart before the scrap guy could get here....

It's back.... and no blue slip. But the news is good, sorta.

Failings:

Both LH tyres - the guy down the tyre place said they'd be fine..... but not good enough for blue slip
Front LH park light - I bloody well checked everything BUT these
Handbrake needs adjusting, didn't hold on a gradient. The gradient in question is their driveway which is about 45+ degrees! Works fine on the flat trying to accelerate away with it on.....

The only bummer is having to locate 2 15 inch tyres. There are some other wheels coming for this car but not just yet and I don't want to buy new ones as that will be obsolete within 3 months.

Am real happy all the other stuff passed, he was impressed by the work on the front end and all the new bits. Damn nice guy to deal with, said he liked the E series, used to have an EF wagon before he needed more space and then he upgraded to a Territory!

Anyway, off to address these things...

Cheers
RD

Thanks Ash, first thing already done - the park light.

Might go visit PnP for tyres although these days they take all the damn wheels off the cars, no doubt to circumvent this type of action.....

Well Done! sorta :P.

Sounds like a few niggly things need attention, but imo if they pick up failings and then finally pass this is a good thing as you know the car is same (until something fails  )

Keep it up.

Ring me dude and get your rectum out to my place. There are two 15 inch tyres here even on rims.
I wouldnt drive much on them as they have been sitting around for two years and woudl be as hard as a rock but they hold air and have plenty of tread.

I have decided just to chuck my wheels on the ole girl for blue slip but not today :) First day back at school for the brats and the house is nice and quiet, so I am going to take this as a relaxing day and do no car work what so ever.

One other little hiccup I noticed with the EF is that it doesn't change into 4th. Cruising back from the check yesterday I noticed the revs were around the 2200 mark in drive. The changes are so damn smooth that it is hard to figure out what it has got to, wish there was some way of displaying what gear the box is actually in but I know that is impossible.

I know there is nothing wrong with this box as it performed fine when it was in my wagon. Gotta be shift adjustment or something to do with fitting an ED box in an EF. When I put the EL box in my ED I had some issues with gear selection as well with the EL gear shift not working in the ED so this could be something similar.

Anyway, thats a problem for later in the week, I am just going to enjoy the peace today.....

Cheers
RD

I best guestimate would be to take the car for a drive, pullover in a place were nothing is around and then take off normally but in first then onto 2nd and then 3rd then drive and count the times it changes...

but on the highway the old mans EA and my AU sit on or around the 2grand mark so maybe it was just a smooth transition.
