Getting there slowly Ben, taking my time seeing as this is spare and we don't need it back on the road!
Your telling me that rust is in a weird spot, been trying to figure out how the water got in there to rust it out

Actually, forgot something...
I need a set of EF/EL transmission lines (box to rad) as when I undid them the part in the box spun and twisted the pipe. It fractured the line plus the pipes are all bent out of shape anyway. If anyone has any spare and are close to me, please do give me a yell. Cheers RD

Getting there Josh, not as quick as I'd like but getting there.
Funny thing today. Rach rings and tells me what a pain it is to park the wagon 'cause it's longer than the cars. I tell her she can have the white EB back if she wants and her rapid reply was "no thanks, that's yours now until I get my car" - women! Oh, and Ben - I found the vacuum leak when this engine was turned off. 90% of the inlet manifold bolts were loose and the gasket was totally shagged, basically fell to bits! This engine may not be as bad as I first thought, just the lifter tick.... Cheers RD

Spent the day taking both engines apart.
The replacement EF engine all ready to be cleaned, painted and reassembled. Front seal is in so far: Some advice is sought for cleaning the BBM. This one is quite bad and I would prefer it to be a little cleaner rather than be the dirtiest piece in the soon to be cleaned engine bay: It actually looks worse in the "flesh". How about Carb Cleaner? And finally for today, I had a go at cleaning the wheels (for something different ). This is what one of them looked like when I first rolled up the driveway: and this is after cleaning Surprisingly I tried Meguiars Hot Rims product and a mag wheel brush and it was pretty much useless. So I tried another product called Clean Green. Bloody amazing stuff as it cut through the crap on the wheel and with a little assistance from a brush produced these results. I just wish it worked on the inlet manifold. Cheers RD

Try Kenco Shift It. It works brilliant. It rips the old grease and build up of old baked on swamp mud out of the Mav's engine bar and makes it look like a new one.
You can either get a 5 litre bottle or a 1 litre squirt pack.

What is the code on your head? Is it 94AB? Just curious as it has a EB rocker cover.

Thanks Matt, I'll give that Kenco stuff a go and see what happens...
SWC, yup, it is 94AB and the block is an EF. It's actually a late ED cover with the half moons on it. This engine was in my ED for 2 months up to me installing the EL and I ED-ised it (harmonic balancer, dizzy, log manifold, front tin etc). It will now live it's life out as a complete EF engine again Cheers RD

I recommend taking it to your local HM Gem and get them to throw it in the cleaning tank, they should do it for free, or 20 bucks at the most. I had mine cleaned after the bead-blasting was done.(this will make it the best it can be without polishing) Cheers Daz

And I see you are in Kellyville, know of any localish ones? (I'm in Rivo) Cheers RD

Oh and I know I'll have to strip it (injectors etc) but do I need to split it and/or remove the TB?
