Finally got turbo header off and dump pipe out, the inside of the cat looks just alittle bit rooted.

The core is on an angle and the honeycomb has chunks missing and it looks rusty, it also looks like its being blown out....

Both heads should be off tomorrow night with the help from some mates.

Some pics, cant really see how rusty it is because of the camera's light.

After i took the photo's and posted them i got a screw driver and gently touched the core and the whole thing slide back to the otherside....

There is a simple technical term that fits the condition of your cats.
Starts with F, ends with ucked up completly and replace those things already.

Yeah its going in the bin mate, not getting another magnaflow cat again thats 3 from 3.

My XR8 was 100% stock when i put hurricane headers on it with 2.5'' magnaflow cats, same thing happened to both of them, had to replace them with better SS cats before i put the raptor on.

As far as i know those cats are still 100% fine (dad has one on his au and i sold the other to a forum member).

magnaflow are s**t.. i had the same problem with my old magnaflow cat. it caused issues everywhere, the car become gutless, it pinged, i actually thought i had a boost leak because of the restriction..
turned out the centre had dislodged and started its way down the pipe blocking the exhaust system... just like your pic...

im now using a venom s/s cat and it has out lasted the magnaflow so far...

Heres the gaskets apart from these few photo's they dont look too bad i found alittle bit of water in cyl2 and 3 and the exhaust valves on those cyl had a orange tinge on them.

On cyl1 the exhaust valve is completely white...

Just weighed the trickflow's and e7's, e7's come in at 23kg a head and tfs are 13kg a head.

With the E7TE heads i can push the valves down with my hands, somehow i dont think thats supposed to happen i can imagine adding the 1.7rr and adding boost to that not doing it any favours.

E7TE heads ftmfl and im taking a stab at guessing gt40p's would be no different.

So you are telling me you have a set of Trickflow alloys now Brad. Are they twisted wedge, cause if they are you will need to check piston to valve clearance, even more with the 1.7 rockers.

Cheers
Brett

Yes i have the twisted wedge 170cc heads, there the track heat ones.

Pistons have valve notches in them already and the cam is standard but i will be checking with some playdough.

Yes, but it more to do with the 2.08 intakes and 1.6 exhausts than anything else.

Checked to see if the header fits and to see how the plug angle is.

Got to agree with you mate, people that love the sound of a sik cylinder are either tone deaf or never owned one.
