Hey,

Is that where the turbo is gonna sit??? Seems to be a good spot, albeit close to the headlight.

You making the nanifold, or have you bought them?? If you want/need a hand, i would be happy to help......

Will keep an eye on this for sure......

Cheers

:D Daz 8-)

Yeah turbo is going to sit there but a/c needs to be removed for dump pipe etc.

I have a friend who is fitting a turbo to his vn. He is going to help me make my turbo headers out of the factory ones

I have nearly everything except exhaust and cooler piping.

When it is finished i will be heading up the street to crescent for some dyno runs.

Is the motor going to be left stock?

Yeah, more than enough power to have some fun.

Just trying/aiming to get my car back to the level it was at with the raptor but with less boost and not so short diff gears.

Im also looking into a 3000rpm stall for this build as i always felt thats what let my car down before.

Apart from recoing the engine its going to remain standard.

I think fitting turbo over where battery is gives better room.. There is sweet stuff all room around air compressor on that side..The induction / air cleaner can be through inner guard..
Try to lower compression to around 8.8 when re building.. Make sure you allow wider ring gap being force feed..
AFord motorsport F303 cam goes well with turbo's if you can get one at the right price??

Good stuff, I'd do what EBXR8380 said though and mount it over the other side.

'offyaguts' engine bay as an example

Long story.

Plan was to get another 5L and transmission but deal fell through unfortunately i sold the raptor, diff, suspension, interior.

Than changed my mind from selling it back to fixing it as there aren't any straight ebv8's worth buying,

To many people want unrealistic $ for hunks of crap that are no better than what i currently own, have also been doing some work for some mates and earnt me some dosh.

After considerable thought as to what to do next i emailed gcg turbos and did some more thinking.

Im was stuck between the raptor or trying a turbo, at this point i still couldn't decide.

After my mate took me for a spin in his 180 and curiosity got the better of me, i went in to order my turbo.

Then plan is pretty much to get the car back to road worthy status and fit the turbo and have some fun, id like to aim for a 12 for it to be worth doing as i feel the raptor was def mid 13s.

My yard stick for that comparison was a subaru wrx that frequents were i live.

The nice part about 5.0 EFI is if you drop compression a little and add 36 / 42 Lb injectors with appropriate maf .. The std EEC can be used..

Would still need a chip to tune the injectors tho, i think i will just go a haltech and run map instead.

Arnt those maf sample tubes abit unreliable ie flat spots, pre ignition .
I see theres a post in the v8 section having this problem.

I dont want to throw figures around about kw's and what kw's are made at what boost, im simply going to get the car going with 8psi and see how it performs.

That's a good plan getting a proper computer straight up. Good idea not getting caught up in the power figures either. Just see how it goes and once it's together and working correctly make changes to get it where you want it.

I'll keep an eye on this thread for sure, there aren't enough turbo 8s around.
