Oh, on the CC/heatrer box subject - the blend door motor I got didn't seem to have anything on the drive shaft bit - what is supposed to go between the motor and the heater box? 'Cause I'll need one :)

RD, the lever on the top of the blend door motor pulls off, and is different between normal and climate control moduals. I have one on the Red EB heater box, that you can have.

I also have spare door ajar sensors and some wiring you may be able to make use of.

I suggest you pop around and have a look to see if you can use any of it.

Ah, cool - thanks Ben. Will definitely pop around and visit. Are you back at work or still living the life of leisure?

Cheers
RD

Complete and utter bummer... no CC for me at the moment. I just found out that EL GLi heater boxes (or at least the one I have) cannot take all the parts!!!!!!! The hole where the fan speed controller would go is too small as seen in the attached pics.

The only hope I have is that the heater box in the ED is different and can accept the bigger fan speed controller. And I was going along so bloody well too!

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The weird thing is, is that the hole is about 1/3 the szie it needs to be. That's why it is a bit weird compared to the docs in Tech Docs.....

If you shine a torch on the area, you can actually see where the cut goes.

Mission accomplished, thanks snap for the link. Worked a treat and the fan speed controller fits in the hole.

There was a metal plate across the hole after I cut the plastic out with my Dremel so I just sawed that off too!

Now I just have to vacuum out the hole (full of leaves) and attach the remaining CC pieces and I am done except for replacing the foam which I will buy tomorrow.

Cheers
RD

Yep, that is what I had to do as well.

Which heater box are you using RD?

Yea, it was quite simple in the end!

I am using the EL's heater box this time round. I'll keep the ED's as a spare when I rip it apart...

Cheers

Good, as the location for the Vac box for the climate control is different, and you need to mount it in the EL location

I will show you tonight when you drop around.

Ah, I was wondering why the question :)

I got a little confused last night while trial fitting the CC bits. I have 2 vaccum controls, one from an EL and one from an EF. The EF (black) one wants to mount on the fan duct, the EL (blue) one wants to mount on the box itself. Having been advised that I should use vaccum with like head unit I'll be using the EF one and will be interested to know which mount I should be using!

Oh, and one of the biggest hassles I had with the heater box was trying to get the damn heater hoses off! I eventually left them on and just took them out attached to the heater box. Have to get them off before I reinstall it though!
