Help about now would be bloody nice actually. It's all getting a bit overwhelming to be honest. Maybe bit off more than I can chew, but we'll see.

Clean engine bays are rather nice actually. It didn't come up too bad, could do with an entire repaint to look *really* good....

Cheers

Keep us posted on your progress Bruce. This all reminds me of when I did mine, although your effort is pretty comprehensive compared to mine. I'm probably one of many silent readers here who are happy to see the photos and not ask too many questions like some.

I was doing the whole blow by blow picture thing because I thought it might benefit others that may try one or more of the things I am doing. This build does seem a little extreme compared to alot around so then I thought that was what was putting everyone off. I was just outside staring at the two cars thinking what the hell have I started but maybe things will look rosier in the morning. I am totally shagged right now from 3 days constant work without too much visible results and at least 4 or 5 more to come. I'll probably feel better about it once it all starts to go back together as an ED/EL hybrid car.

Now, where is that list I need to update for my "to-do".....

Cheers
RD

Nooooooooooooo, not putting a damn horrible EL front end on it, I like my boxcar shape! By front end I meant suspension :) Sometime in the very distant future I would like to install an ED XR6 front end with better lights but that is a long way off. I need to be able to drive the damn thing first!

It is a very ambitious project, you dont seem too phased though. You also seem to be learning alot as you go along.

See the previous page (10), about half way down. The EL has a big hole for the wiring, the ED doesn't.....

EL's have no wiring running across the top of the firewall, it all comes from inside the car, down the side to various pieces. The one that exits the cabin on the right, runs across the top of the inner RH guard, then re-enters the engine bay behind the headlight. From there it doubles back a bit to connect to the relays etc. It also takes off across the front of the car, infront of the radiator support to get to the headlights and the thermo relays.

Mine won't quite do all that the same way due to the different shape of the ED front compared to the EL but will follow the same basic principle.

Cheers
RD

You could say that, I ooze confdence - NOT! :) This is a hell of a learning curve, I spend alot of time staring at things working how and what to do next. Then the EL will throw a curve ball at me. For example, I am putting the EL airbags in so need to figure out mounts for the two sensors (one in the grill area and one in the cabin around the old handbrake area) plus the airbag electronics. The electronics mount just up under the dash on the RH side, around the area where the ABS computer was. But guess what, the bloody mounts are different. Things like this are whats slowing me down.....

Cheers

WOW!!!!

RD, you have made great progress Buddy.

My apologies for not getting around to your place, but, with my Wife now back from the USA, my attention, was elsewhere.

Re the sniffer motor, you have now of course found out, that in the EF/EL it is actually part of the control unit.

At least it is cooler today, although a little bit wet. Hopefully you will still be able to make progress.

Cheers
BenJ

Mate... When I go through my own build thread I see my own signature everywhere and no one says nothing until I totally screw something up, or get the car written off by some blind Asian. Never mind.

I like the blow by blow picture thing. If anyone is upset or annoyed by it then they can piss right off and read a book someplace else.

It takes a lot of effort to remember to take photos, document what was happening and upload to the damn net for other FordModders to look at. I've left my phone (camera) at home on a number of mod's that I could have put onto the build thread... Too bad, opportunity has gone as parts installed and hidden now.

Regarding - TO DO lists... They seem overwhelming all by themselves! Sometimes you're better off to simply throw the To DO list away once everything is sourced and you've pulled things apart. My TO DO list was three pages long and had details such as part numbers and everything all laid out for me. It was scary to look at, but with a few days most of it was done and it was thrown away. Which may explain why my air vent mod is still 75% complete.... Without that bit of paper to remind me, I simply make do with having no directional air out the drivers vent.

As you may (or may not) know, I hadn't even changed a brake disk until a year ago. When deciding to start pulling apart the EF wagon that alternates between love and hate on an hourly basis, I didn't know anything, but followed some stupid tech-doc from here. The tech-doc actually put me off doing it for ages, as it was going on and on about how long it would take and how tricky it was. Turns out it wasn't that bloody hard and didn't take that long. Guess a lot of documents are written with the lowest common denominator in mind.... IE - thick bastards.

You have a pile of parts and the pile keeps getting smaller until you're only left with a couple of bits that you obviously didn't really need... Carry on, get some sleep, lay off the P, ICE, COCAINE and stick to coffee....

And don't listen to anyone who owns a ED when they say ED fronts are sexy.
