Hi RD, I mot sure but check the serial number on your BEM
My spare green one from my NF reads made in australia 9 330 065 111 94da 14k144 ba 66103 green Mine has 2 wireing connectors and I think the el has 1 so this may be useless information Cheers Josh |

Yep, EF and EL are very different, even in size.
It is possible the BEM is stuffed. Contact the seller and see if they will exchange if for another one. BenJ

BenJ Yup, thats what I'm thinking too as I know the guy I got the ECU off wouldn't sell me a dud Trick is the seller only had one so now I'll need to source another green one as I can't be stuff buggering around with resistors, not after all this damn work.... Cheers RD

Update.....
Spent the morning creating mounts for the PS cooler lines, air con receiver/drier, the front airbag sensor and the ambient temp sensor. Almost all done and pics to follow. I was actually waiting for the battery to fully charge so in addition to above I finished off the various engine bits that I needed to start it, namely radiator hoses, coolant bottle etc. Then came the time to put the battery in to see what happened. Remember me saying the green BEM was acting strangely? Well it seems it is in fact working as once the battery was in, I turned the key and on the second revolution it fired up. It is currently sitting out there idling at 750rpm, temp great, oil pressure great, charge great. Ran through the gears to check the trans and got mesmerised by the little gear position display on my NF cluster - that is way cool! Who needs a 5 speed when you have cool lights on the dash for the auto - HA! Once I got the engine fired I discovered a vacuum leak under the dash. The sniffer tube had disconnected itself from the engine feed so a quick fix was in order and all was well. The CC unit cycles through all the vents and the air is strong which proves my replacement foam is working At this rate I hope to drive it down the road sometime tomorrow for it's first test which means putting the gaurds back on, headlights in and wired plus front and rear bars. After that I will continue with all the additions to the doors, add carpets and sets and complete the interior. So long for now... Cheers RD

Another sigh of relief I bet. {USERNAME} wrote: Ran through the gears to check the trans and got mesmerised by the little gear position display on my NF cluster - that is way cool! Well, it will always display "N" so I covered it up hehe. {USERNAME} wrote: Once I got the engine fired I discovered a vacuum leak under the dash. Good stuff mate, I remember when i had my poly ed. i thought it would be great to transplant everything from a el into it.
To see how you have done it in the flesh is fantastic, its kinda like a wolf in sheeps clothing he he. Glad your bem was fine in the end. Keep up the good work! Josh |

Thanks guys
It has been a longer road then intended but so far I am more than happy with the result. I am already thinking forward to what wheels would look good or, more realistically, what I can afford. Anyway.... Pics from earlier so Ben can believe These are the mounts for the PS cooler lines from the EL plus a slightly relocated air con drier and forward air bag sensor: I have the ambient sensor and air con lines to install yet which I will need light for Oh, and an obligatory shot of a 99% complete engine bay with the juicy new EL engine on board. A few plans are in the future to dress things up a bit - see, already forward thinking Cheers RD

Done well Bruce. You have really made a tops job of it!
If your after some cheap wheels I do have some ED Turbo blades here off Mr ED and also have a set of 15" EB Fairmont Ghia mesh alloys. Both sets of five. Will be pretty cheap! Shoot me a PM or something if you want to drop over and have a bo peep sometime.

Thanks matey, took too damn long to get the mounts in, kept changing my mind As for the driving bit, I have a bit of incentive, I want to drive my son to his first taekwondo lesson at Rouse Hill around 6pm. {USERNAME} wrote: Done well Bruce. Not sure about the wheels yet, I know I can't afford my 17's like I want and I have 11x Snowflakes up the back that I may have cleaned up and put on after choosing the best of the bunch. For now though I'll stick with EL Futura wheel trims until some more dollars come in....... Cheers RD

{USERNAME} wrote: LOL, 11x snowflake mags!! Why on earth do you have so many? Josh Haha! I have wheels coming out of my ears Josh, just not the right ones! The snowflakes came off an EA S Pac I had (x4) that was scrapped, an EA Fairmont wagon (x5) that was scrapped, x2 came from a wrecker when I grabbed some second hand tyres. Then I have 7x 14" wheels, 2 of which have brand new tyres on them plus 1x Turboblade and 2x EB S Pac spokes. 4 of this bunch are currently propping up the front of the EL which is missing a K frame, the rest are piled around the place. I tell ya, Mrs RD is none too happy about them all! I'll be having a wheel sale soon - HA! Cheers RD

While the Panadol Forte kicks in this morning I am just wondering what the best way to work how how big rear lowering blocks should be. At the moment I have put Lows in the front and the back is on stock springs making it look like a 4x4 in the rear. And no, I do not want 1 Tonne springs in the back...
Anyway, am I correct in saying that you measure from the eyebrow of the the wheel arch to the center of the wheel on both front and rear, then work out the difference? I am after a smallish rake unloaded and near to level with 2 kids and 3 dogs (2 big, 1 small) in the back - probably around 2" Cheers RD

BUMMER!
Put the bonnet on this morning and was wondering why it wouldn't close. Damn thing hits the air bag sensor so now it will have to be moved. Best laid plans and all that.....

I say, 1.5s to 2s. I have 1.5s in mine and with 2 dogs, 3 adults, a tank of LPG and picnic gear it sat level. And towing a trailer etc it still has a bit of rake.
You didn't test clearance of those things while building it all? Oh well, just change it LOL That is the great part about doing things yourself. Cheers BenJ
