RD, to bend the A/C lines, remove the airbox, then install the lines and bolt them in place wherever they need to be, THEN bend it.

I need to invest in some silicon spary for the channels to free them up a bit and maybe also greas the window mech. [/quote] Hi Bruce, Don't use silicon spray as while it will work initially it will collect dust and strat to jam up the runners again. Best product to use is the old graphite powder, just a little. Mines a good find fiend, she does get sick of it sometimes but generally she is OK with it all!
Off to do that now Ben, shade has arrived over the front of the car now. I need to extend the headlight wiring on that side too so will do that while I am there. Cheers RD

Paul Thanks Paul! Definitely do not want them to gum up. I'll source some powder and get on with it! Cheers RD

Air con lines are now in complete with a slightly remounted drier. Fits nicely. Washer bottle is also in and the rear washer line has been connected together.
Going to be working tonight under floodlights, far too hot to do anything during the day and tomorrow is going to be worse. It's all coming together nicely and by the end of the night the rear doors should be converted and the remainder of the interior well underway. Definitely aiming to drive it tomorrow sometime, maybe to visit Auto Pro or Supercheap..... Cheers RD

Just finishing up the night shift and it has been bliss with a cool breeze and mild temps. Dreading the heat later in the morning.
Rear doors are all done, definitely need something on the rear windows as they really struggle to go up. Will be visiting Supercheap today so will grab what I need there. Weird thing happened, as the weather cooled off the drivers door decided it didn't want to open! Unlatches with the handle but won't open. Will see what happens when it heats up and I remember what the hell I did wrong. Was fitting the rear seat belts and trim but have met a roadblock. For the life of me I cannot remember what bloody order they came out as I didn't do it or take photos of the progress. Will have to find some kind soul in the local shopping centre car park to ask if I can look at their EF/EL rear trim Either that or visit PnP yet again just for a look see. One thing with the rear suspension I thought of tonite.... should I have NOT tightened everything with the car in the air but left it loose until the car had weight on it, especially the springs? I very much think that is where I have stuffed up and why it is taller than a monster truck in the back..... Cheers RD

There *should* be enough movement there that you could tighten it all up... Uhm... When swapping mine over I actually did put a jack under the axle and did it that way come to think of it. But honestly dude, you sure you put the rear links back on, or have you just connected the leafs directly to the chassis without the dog leg links at the back?!!!!!
Then again - I have seen some awfully high wagons. You did put the axle on top of the springs and not under neath? Hell, just having trouble working it out myself... Is quite amazing.,.. |

Well, back at it today and found a couple of glitches....
A piece of crap had gotten into the drivers door lock preventing the catch from dropping. Removed that and the door opens as normal. The RH rear door's lock seems to be working backwards to all the rest, it locks when the other unlock! Need to address that me thinks Fiend, no I didn't put anything on backwards or upside down. This wagon was bloody high when I got it, just not this high. I'll investigate further once I have driven in over potholes and speed bumps. Huggie: Thanks but EA-ED are a little different in the rear trim. I am trying to work out which goes in first, the cargo side trim or the C pillar plastic. On the EL, the cargo area trim extends under (or over) the C pillar plastic and screws into the C pillar. I have a feeling it sits under but I am missing a couple of screw holes. Yet to investigate the EL itself to see what was there. The heat is ramping up again so I am limiting myself to short bursts before 3pm when it peaks. So want to drive it today but the damn battery has gone flat again from sitting there with the doors open, plus I forgot to turn it off accessory after fitting the electric windows! Cheers RD

I connected the throw arm to the wrong hole on the lock, the bottom one instead of the top one. Easy fix once I fight with the damn top bolt holding the motor on... grrrrrr. Need new camera batteries but will try and get some. Am getting to the stage that pics won't really show what I have done though.... Cheers RD

Little bit of an update.
I got to drive it today.......was expecting some difference between the original ED and all my work. Well, THERE IS! All I can say is WOW, THIS IS SO FRIGGEN COOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Pulls hard in both econo and power mode, smooth power all the way. Stops fantastic but the pads probably need replacing, will do that when I get my slotted discs Suspension is pretty good but the damn back hasn't dropped any. Took it over a variety of surface including smooth seal, gravel, potholes, speedbumps and run of the mill rural roads yet it is still 3 miles in the air. So tonight I will change the springs and put the EL's in, this time doing it by the book. Overall I am very very happy and it has made all this hard work worth it. My to do list now is: Finish off fitting the rest of the interior Refit the headlining Change the rear springs Wire the ambient sensor Mount the forward air bag sensor Fit the towbar Give it a bloody good wash and polish Fit lowering blocks once I know what height I am dealing with. Currently the rear is 4" higher than the front!!!!!! Off to work now... Cheers RD

That is great news RD. I am really pleased that all of your hard work, is actually able to be felt while driving it. I look forward for taking it for a spin soon, so I can compare it to when I drove it before. Will swap ya a drive in my wagon LOL Cheers BenJ
