Great work RD, a mighty effort considering you don't have a workshop!!! Heartfelt congratulations.
Ps.
Please put my Fairmont cluster aside for me, I'll be needing it fairly soon, your effort has motivated me to get the damn thing finished. LOL
Cheers,
Mac

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Ben, me ole mate, you will notice a *vast* difference when you dirive it now :)

It has been over 2 weeks now and I am on the home stretch. Quite a few of the things on the to do list above are still to be done because of a number of things. The headlining can't go back in until I get to PnP but I can't go to PnP because I can't currently wear enclosed shoes! Then today I went to fit my stereo and found that the EL has different mounts than an ED. I modified my current mounts but want to put the proper ones in when I get some, probably again from PnP.

I did get a couple of things done though, like fitting the EL springs which made a difference, then today I bought some 2" lowering blocks and fitted those. The car now sits how I want it (unloaded) and should level out nicely when the family and dogs are onboard. Couple of crap shots of her now, better ones to come when I can get the car on some nice level ground:

I'll plod along finishing off everything else by weeks end (hopefully) and then take her for a longish drive this weekend to give her a good run to iron out bugs. I am quite liking the look of the Futura trims but would love to see what grey NL Fairlane wheels looked like on the car. One day when I get a decent side shot, maybe someone would be nice enough to photoshop it foe me :)

Cheers
RD

Awwwww, you're making me blush now guys. Thanks for the kind words, I am loving my car now. It's been a very long time since I actually enjoyed driving a car!

Yes, she is straight - the main reason why I bought it in the first place. I knew the mechanical's would need work at some stage but I would have a clean bodied car. I really want the tailgate painted in Cardinal Red now but the funds have dried up so that will have to wait.

My wife Rach is a funny thing. She is the one that as long as a car goes, stops and turns corners, she is happy. But last night she says "you've got a cool car now, when are you going to do the same to mine!". So much for being happy with a stock EB S Pac. And here was me thinking I could rest now!!!

And Dan, no interior pics yet as it is not all in there, roof lining and plastics to go. Soon though :)

Cheers
RD

Managed to get to Pick N Payless today and every damn car is pretty much gutted, need to wait for some new stock. I managed to only score a plug for my roof wiring which I will graft into the ED loom tomorrow. Then I'll finish off the interior which will be another thing off my list.

One thing that is driving me nuts if the trip computer clock. For the life of me I can't get the damn thing to accept anything to set the damn time. I read the tech doc but there is no "set" button anywhere and pressing and holding the "reset" button does nothing. Anyone know the right way?

Cheers
RD

Found it... went pressing buttons :)

Search (hold) + reset. Reset sets whatever (time, year, date etc), Search advances (hour, minute, year, month, day). Tech doc needs updating me thinks....

Cheers
RD

Dude, this is actually part of the TECH DOCO on installing a trip computer! Hehehehe, all good tho --- THAT WAS THE VERY FIRST QUESTION I EVER ASKED ON FORDMODS. The only reason I joined this site was to ask that very question as I had just bought a 95 poverty pack off the net and found it to be a Fairmont. It took me a week to work out why it beeped whenever I turned it on --- fuel warning --- and it took a month before I had enough fuel in it for it not to go beep. Ah, the luxury!

Quote:
Fiend, no I didn't put anything on backwards or upside down. This wagon was bloody high when I got it, just not this high. I'll investigate further once I have driven in over potholes and speed bumps.
Sorry dude, that was very cheeky of me... I've seen a few wagons in my time, but never one that looked like a freeze frame from the Olympics pole vault event. That photo of yours is special at that height. You should get in printed and give it pride of place.

Car is looking bloody awesome now... Can't imagine how much awesumer it is going to look once you've put the AU XR6 front end on.

What did you want photoshopped for you? Didn't quite follow that discussion. My photoshopping arm is out of action a bit at the present time, but it'll be raring to go shortly....
