Dude, this is actually part of the TECH DOCO on installing a trip computer!

No it aint, to paraphrase from the doco:

# To set the Hours - Depress the Set Button and Hold. Press the Hour Button until correct hours are displayed, then release the Hour and Set Buttons.
# To Set the Minutes - Depress the Set Button and Hold. Press the Minutes Button until the correct minutes are displayed, then release both the Minutes and Set Button.

Mine has neither button and is the same as every other EF/EL unit, they don't have ANY of these buttons either!!

HA! Same here, couldn't figure out what was bloody beeping at me until I put some fuel in it :)

Sorry dude, that was very cheeky of me... I've seen a few wagons in my time, but never one that looked like a freeze frame from the Olympics pole vault event. That photo of yours is special at that height. You should get in printed and give it pride of place.

Found out after RTFM that I screwed up in that area. I bolted it all back up while the suspension was hanging. However, the original ED springs must have been reset at some stage as, like I said, it was bloody high when I got it, higher than the other 2 wagons that I had at the time! Sooooooo happy that it no longer looks like a ski ramp......

Car is looking bloody awesome now... Can't imagine how much awesumer it is going to look once you've put the AU XR6 front end on.

Thanks dude! Never ever going to have an AU/EF/EL front on this car though - Twinlights for an ED maybe when I have some spare cash (ha!), but never the ugly things :) :) :) :)

What did you want photoshopped for you? Didn't quite follow that discussion. My photoshopping arm is out of action a bit at the present time, but it'll be raring to go shortly....
Wasn't so much a discussion as a disguised request to see what NL Fairlane wheels look like on it once I have a good side shot. I like the grey versions of these wheels and would consider a set (in the future) if they suit the car and colour. Oh, and a 20% tint as well!

Off topic, don't you just hate it when injury gets in the way of car work. I remember when I decided to jamb my thumb into a table saw and the resulting mess stopped me doing so bloody much! Not impressed at all

Wow! I like that!!!! Thanks.

Are they the same as these on the Fairlane Ghia?

ford-parts-for-sale-f17/fs-eoi-parts-from-nl-fairlane-ghia-front-end-damage-t72433.html

These were the once I was thinking of originally, they seem to be a different grey/silver...

Cheers

Oh, and I bet these wheels are as rare as hens teeth too which would be typical. I am very particular what wheels I want to end up with.....

yeah there the same, but the wheels are actually from a NF fairlane "sportsman" and NL Fairlane "Concorde". Sportsman wheels are light grey, and Concordes are champagne in colour. Late concordes had the BBS mesh style rim.

Mine i bought of a panel beater who painted them in 2pak "meteor" as seen in AU/BA falcons. The colour didnt take long to grow on me !!

They are fairly rare wheels, however i think you have a better chance of finding a set, than some chrome LTD rims.... which is what i originally wanted

Thanks for the info, I know what to look out for now. I really like them on the car, they suit it nicely. Now to save some $$$$ for when a set comes up....

Cheers

Spent some of the day piecing the interior together after I grafted the EL socket onto the ED wiring. One blue wire still evades identification but the lights seem to work fine.

I personally hate all the clips and rubbish associated with the plastics and especially hate putting the hand holds back on but it is all done now. Just a couple of physical things to do inside (kick panels, steering column surround & kick plates), need to wire the door ajar sensors (hate that job!) then outside I need to do the front handbrake mount, mount the forward airbag sensor and wire the ambient sensor (another horrible job).

Tiredness is catching up with me now and my hands have taken an absolute beating from all this so I'll put up with all those doors flashing at me on the dash for another day or two.

Cheers
RD

Yo RD

Is it still going well?

You have vanished after doing all that hard work.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers

Hey Ben

Yup, the car is going well, better than can be said about me though. A couple of weeks ago I pulled all the muscles in my lower back and had a bugger of a time for a while. During that I got the bloody flu which is still hanging around slightly, so I am slowly mending. Thats why I haven't been over to visit :) Still have to finish off a heap of little things like door ajar sensors, handbrake mount etc etc etc. I'll get to those when I am 100%...

Cheers
RD

Howdy all

Nothing has happened to the car for a while due to family health issues, haven't much felt like doing any car stuff. Add to that the lack of internet access and it seemed like I had vanished off the face of the earth.

Slowly getting back in the mood and will need to visit PnP to source a few bits. Also have some bits to pick up from a couple of people which will happen next week.

Hopefully next update will be sooner and more around doing something to the car :)

Cheers
RD

Thanks guys

So much to catch up on, the New Posts list is a zillion pages long!

Ben, will let ya know but won't be this weekend at least - doing an engine, trans and K frame swap on Rach's car. Still need that rear wiper though, the back looks a little bare on the ED.

The car now had that "lived in" look, damn kids and their crap. Still going well though. A few weeks ago I leapt out of an intersection through a gap in the traffic and left a bloody big black line and plenty of smoke in my wake. Didn't mean to, it just lit up as the rear unloaded while turning. Very happy with the EL engine.

May be doing a road trip to Melbourne soon which would test her out nice, pity I don't have the damn LPG installed yet.

Catch up soon

Cheers
RD
