Sounds good RD.

I will drop my Wagon off for you to repeat the process, seeing as you have so much recent experience and all LOL

Looking forward to the pics.

Cheers

LOL @ Ben! TO be honest, I wouldn't want to do it again any time soon - it's a pain pulling the thing apart etc etc. It would have been far better to have a set of springs already done and just swap them over....

Anyhoo, heres some pics of the final result:

Did a bit more work to mine today.....

When I assembled my car during it's rebuild I only had GLi wiring for the right hand side of the engine bay. It was missing a few things like wiring for the ambient sensor and the low water sensor. I acquired a Fairmont Ghia loom a little while ago and decided to fit it tonight and what I thought would be simple turned into a major exercise :)

I have to remove the headlights, front bar, thermos and air con condenser, and undo the radiator to allow it to move backwards. Shoehorning the old wiring out and the replacement back in was tricky as well but I finally got it all done. While I was there I replaced the coolant bottle with a sensor version acquired earlier and also replaced my front bar with a ED Fairmont version I had lying around. The chrome strip is showing it's age and needs replacing but is better then only one side of the insert I had earlier. This bar also has a lip whereas my GLi one didn't and has spots for 2 horns instead of one - I'll have to get another one if I can;t find the extra one I have.

So now I have a working ambient air sensor and the low coolant light no longer flashes at me all day long. Only a couple of flashing things to get rid of on the dash now :)

I also have some interior extras coming to tart up the inside a bit, more on that when I have them in my hot little hands.

Cheers
RD

Your wagon looks great Bruce especially with the ride height and mag wheels. Your roof line looks great without any racks, thought about a sunroof at all?

I don't suppose you want to do the springs in mine too mate? You seem to have this job all figured out

Thanks matey, it's getting there. More aesthetic stuff to both on the outside and the inside yet, some of which involves painting (which is a scary thought!).

Have often thought about a sunroof, would be a nice addition me thinks. The trick is finding one the right price and then figuring out how to install it!

As for the springs..... :D

Cheers

It's easy.

Just draw a big rectangular box on the roof. Attack area inside marked box with electrical hand tools.

Lift sunroof into place and using some bits of metal laying around make some brackets, then glue into place.

Simple really!!!!! LOL

Cheers

Strange problem has appeared and I am not sure which bit is at the root. Sometimes (not always) the drivers power window button won't automatically release on the down side. Have missed it a couple of times and the window will not wind up for a while afterwards.

Is it a faulty button or a faulty pwr window motor? I have a motor spare but not buttons........

This is a common issue.

The only easy option is to find a good set.

You can use box car ones and swap the buttons etc over.

In the mean time, just keep an eye on it to make sure it pops up, or it can over heat and burn out completely.

Ah, thanks matey. I am due for a visit to PnPM sometime so I will put some on the list. I have been using the button like a standard one just in case, I'll keep doing that until I get a replacement.....

Well, I am now in the market (after xmas anyway) for a set of ute springs for the rear. Since I have done my lowering trick I am getting strange noises coming from the back under certain circumstances. I think the springs I have may be a little tired and aren't handling the lowering too well.

With a set of ute springs, I can do the lowering trick prior to fitting and will have a tighter rear than I have now. Bloody annoying but what can ya do.......

Thanks huggie, I love it too! Still more on my list but happy nonetheless. Take your time with yours and you too will end up with a car that you love :)

Managed to score myself an AU front reading light unit today.....

is there anything tricky to wiring one of these things up? It look like it only has 3 wires (yes, I did get the plug and a section of wire too)

Cheers
RD
