Are you wrecking it or selling it complete? If your wrecking it whats the bonnet like...LOL
Definitely wrecking/scrapping, there aint much left. The bonnet has been rubbed back by the previous "owner". It is generally pretty good aside from a small "blemish" in the left side of the front lip (the bit where the grill bolts on). Looks like someone pushed a car with it and bent it down slightly. I would imagine it would be a fairly easy fix. There is no grill though, it never had one. Paint code was P2 which is a type of blue. Cheers RD

No worries will talk to you closer to seat time. Bonnet sounds the goods , got a grille lined up so what you want for the bonnet?

Heres my options as I see them that fit into the "insane" column... Option A: Cut the mount positions out of the EL and graft into the ED. I see 2 cuts per side, one inner rear corner and one outer front corner. Option B: Cut the whole floor/tunnel section from the EL and graft that into the ED. This would give all 4 seats mount postions plus the handbrake mount. In the past I have built many seat mounts in the various race cars I have built so it may not be too insane. The biggest issue would be getting things exactly right in both cars and adding additional strengthing to the floor. So, back to the bonnet. Hows about the bonnet for assistance in accomplishing one of the options above Cheers RD

Yep I can do that. I reckon option A would be the better safer bet.

Oh, just thought - I'll need to get one of those saws for cutting the floor bits out. Will sus that out before it's time to do the changeover.

more pregress pics needed. Piccies coming but not much to take really except for those changes I did above. I still have to get some "starter" pics which I will do tomorrow....

{USERNAME} wrote: Well, I decided to swap the front seats out of the EL and hit a road block. Not knowing the seat mounts were different I pulled the drivers seat out of the ED and then proceeded to remove the drivers seat from the EL. Only then did I discover the difference.
ringatsinga had some spacers made up so I will probably do the same. Other than that I may get adventurous and make up new seat mounting positions and weld them in. Just have to find someone with a Mig I can borrow Live & learn..... Dont need a mig welder matey, I used a stick on mine, came up a treat!! And much safer than spacers too: |

Hmmm, interesting banarcus.... did you find that the front mounts were wider too? The '98 EL seats I have are different in 2 ways - the rear which needs an extension and the outer front which is about 2 inches closer to the door than the ED version...
I am going one step further to cater for future seat options, EVL098 and I will be modifying the actual mounting points in the car. That way I can put the stockie GLi seats in now and upgrade later to EL Fairmont [Ghia] or NL Fairlane seats without further changes. Cheers RD

Well, today the El was put into it's final resting place and my wife and kids stripped the interior for me while I was working on our EB. The doors were left as is as they are being transferred to the ED as a unit. There is still the dash to go but we needed electrics to do the final move. Besides, I have run out of room to put stuff
To my surprise the body wiring has electric window and ABS wiring already included. The front doors are wired for leckie windows but the rears aren't. Luckily I have rear door leckie window wiring that I grabbed from PnP so no dramas there. I am dying to do more but I have a few more things to do to my wifes EB so I can get rid of the EB parts car. Hopefully sometime next week I can pull the engine & trans from the EL - then things will really start! Pics of the EL as it stands now, ready to be jacked up.....
