Cheers They are a clever viscous type LSD design that Ford/Tickford and Holden/HSV used in the 90s. Clever aside from not being sevicable....So good when new, but not sure about 2nd hand ones though.

Spent a few hours today making up some brackets for air conditioner compressor. None of the holes line up front two are offset by about 12mm whereas rear one is very close. By the way BA air con compressor is held on by 4 bolts EL 3.
 Also picked up these the other day  You can really tell diff between fakes and real ones from the back  notice the thickness of spokes  Spokes are much thicker. Been reading thread on modifying sump without need to cut k frame even though i have already cut and welded k frame I am going to look into this further. Anyone out there got a stuffed BA engine I can use as a guinea pig. Cheers |

Made up a few more brackets today one to hold the clutch switch and one to hold the brake pedal switch for the cruise control.
  you might be able to see here had to build up the clutch pedal bit that hits the switch did not like how it acted on the switch so i made up a little ramp style set up for it. Steve |

Hi Guys
Been a long time since my last post. Bet you all thought heres another dreamer who wants to put twin cam into e series but hit a brick wall. Havent been doing much since my last post been really crook in and out of hospital getting pocked and prodded by all manner of guys in white jackets etc.But I am on the mend still crook but can now actually get out of house and do a few things. But I am probably limited to about two to three hours work on the car a day so things are going to go very slowllllllly! So you where am i up to you ask. Today i started to get ready to pull sohc motor out have disconnected everything from top of car. Tomorrow its time to get under car undo everything then hopefully pull motor out or maybe on Sunday. Well the fairlane went in for heart surgery today
   I have heard some people are running a modified sump. Not really wanting to hack into the k frame and seeing as i had a ba motor lying around i thought i would have a go. I only managed to get two photos before camera packed it in but heres the photos. Plenty of clearance though its a bit hard to tell. Once i get sump welded up will post more pics. Little bit more work today checked clearance on sump several times looks good. More pics theres alot sorry but someone could find it useful.
    Will hopefully get sump welded up this week if not definitely nest week. After playing around with sump all morning thought i would get the loom ready for install.   Ecu was a nice fit just needed a few mods to sit a bit lower. One problem though it takes up a bit of room where washer bottle sits. I cannot use a BA bottle because of positioning of ABS module but I might be able to use on right side once I remove compressor for SLS suspension. Does anyone have any ideas on this.  Loom ready to be tidied up. Next weel I plan to remove bumper and install intercooler. Thanks for looking Steve |

A few more photos hope I don't bore you. Decided not to take off bumper and install intercooler. Thought I would get loom in properly. I thought it would be a quick maybe two hour job well two days later I have a bit of progress.
 Loom now going through firewall just need to reinstall grommet.  Different angle  And here is the reason this job took so long decided to take dash out to do it properly.  While I had dash out its time to install accelerator pedal. There is a big junction box sitting right where accelarator has to sit so I spun this around 90 degrees made a bracket to mount ot to then i attatcheed accelarator pedal to this bracket. Sits fine.  Next step was to install clutch pedal. I used a Mal Wood kit so took about 10 minutes. Cut brake pedal down to size. Now a question where does clutch return spring sit haven't really had a good look as I haven't got spring yet. Cheers Steve |

Ahhh, the fond memories of fighting with the loom.
LOL The clutch pedal spring goes from the back of the clutch pedal to a small loop in the firewall. Keep up the good work mate. Cheers BenJ

Hi Ben
Hows your beast going? Did you end up getting the air con regassed? I have had a change of mind with the loom for cruise control going to try a fancy relay that only appeards on right hand drive beetles and audi tt's. Will post up details when I have finished testing. Cheers Steve |

The A/C works, except that as the EL A/C climate control unit in the dash is no longer receiving a data signal and it doesn't know that the engine is running, it doesn't switch the A/C pump on at all. I am currently using a manual switch to activate the compressor until I can sort out a fake signal to trick the A/C control unit that the engine is running. I will be interested to see how your experiment with the cruise setup works out. Cheers BenJ

Not much to report on today just did a trial fit of motor to check sump clearance all look good.
 Nice fit plenty of room at front of motor   Shot of sump clearance not a good photo but there is sufficient clearance can get my fingers between k frame and sump. Will post more clearance shots when motor is back in. Cheers |
