Yes, of course there are adapter plates available to make round pipes fit with a staggered bolt pattern but it's kind of overkill when the pipes are only 1 5/8".

More nice work from you Pete, love the headers, have you got the flanges machined yet?

Thanks dude, Actually I'm not sure I'll need to machine the flanges. After I straightened them and because I immediately quench the welds they have stayed straight. Might just hit em with big flat file.

Got a couple of pipes on the Left bank done too but they are more difficult to route. I always wanted to know how you turn round tube into square tube so the headders suit the ports. |

Hey Ash,
Not much because I was trying to rest my damaged shoulder which, as it turns out is a torn Bicep tendon. It's still stuffed so I'm just going to get back into it and suffer the consequences. So anyway, all I've done is buy some more parts I need like, a brand new EF-L type 110A mitsubishi Alternator and brand new Sanden E-series A/C compressor. Also managed to get most of the parts for the trans locally!? I couldn't believe they had them in stock! I think I'm going to build it myself. I found some second hand genuine tools on ebay but the bastards won't sell to Oz!? Dropped the radiator back in and it looks like the E-series top hose will go straight on with just a bit trimmed off. On the bottom I'll have to make a cross over tube like a Falcon but longer probably. |

Ok some pics to go with what I said before. (s**t phone photos)
Top hose will fit with a slight trim... Bottom hose where I will make a stainless crossover with a barb for the header tank... The new Compressor in place... And something I discovered. The original bracket i was using was from a '94-5 Mustang and as it turns out uses a smaller bolt pattern compressor. So while the bracket looks almost identical it ain't... |

Can you make up some ali/steel brackets to line the holes up, or are you going to source a new bracket.

Ok I found a place in the U.S. called called Hughes Performance who actually give a s**t.
Instead of getting half a*** responses to my questions I got a detailed ones with questions answered in order and very well. So I've ordered a trans from them and should get it this month so that'll speed things up nicely! It's a mild one that's rated at 550hp/525lb/ft and comes with converter and alloy deep pan and also includes a big cooler with it's own fan for $2800. They will also drill and tap the output shaft for no charge. Here's some pics of what I was up to today... Took the roobar off. Discovered this end broken off the bonnet catch brace... The trans cooler has some upward force damage to the brackets. No matter because it's going. Got a brand new grill.. As I'm running EL(or maybe AU) Falcon fans I've removed the original auxiliary fans. Plus I need the room to mount the big trans cooler/fan. Nice view... Looks better already. |
