Just measured up the mounts and I will be able to use them if I make a flat plate for the bottom.
Next test will be the prop shaft clearance. |

Original mounts...
Mounts removed... New mounts started in 5mm steel... Parts of the new mounts made up... and the parts tacked on... Welded... Mods to RH engine mount for diff clearance. This gives another 25mm higher than the bump stops. and the engine in place.. |

Yeah, I can't wait Lads, unfortunately there's still alot to do.
I'm modifying the alternator bracket now as the idler section hits the steering box. I have to cut this bit off and I'm making a stainless bracket that will pick up the two rear bolt holes and that unused hole on the front of the bracket, to take the idler pulley... |

Here's the bracket I made. It's 25mm 304 bar and 20x6 304 flat bar. The holes are tapped 3/8" UNC into the flat bar which means the top hole in the original bracket(the one on the left in photo) needs to be drilled out as it's already tapped for 3/8" UNC. It doesn't strictly need to be 3/8" but it works out well for the front bracket hole which is an unused hole that just happens to tap out to 3/8" just nicely without any drilling.
Coupla header bolts worked out nice to hold it on.. The front of the bracket picks up this hole that I mentioned before. These header bolts are handy although I did have to shorten this one. The bearing spigot is turned down to 16.75mm with a 6.5mm step and tapped M10x1.5.... On there.... Side view... |

There's been some progress but no pics yet Ash,
I ordered a custom 304 stainless header kit from CAE. Just took the driveshafts down this morning to get the rear one shortened and a new heavy wall 1 1/4" diameter front shaft made. I gave up waiting for someone to buy the original EFI harness and ECU and chopped it up and started splicing it into the EEC harness. I also bought a BF six speed auto shifter from the wreckers on saturday and I've started nutting out how I'm going to use it. Mechanically it's going to need a fair bit of chopping up because it's quite large which wouldn't be a problem if it were 2WD but the transfer shift sits right in front of it so it's cable mount might have to get chopped off? Electronically, it's just a binary switch with a 3bit code for each position and it's done using tiny surface mount HE devices on the circuit board and a magnet attached to the end of a stick that gets waved past each device. Same for the sequential shift side, there's one on centre and one on the plus side and none on the minus side. So 1 for upshift and 0 for down. Had a bit of a look at the cooling side of things too. I think I'll cut down the fan shroud on some EL fans to fit the radiator and I might do a stainless pipe arrangement for the bottom hose, like on an E-series Falcon. |

Got the shafts back on Friday. The front is 45mm longer than stock and it's a 1 1/4" heavy wall shaft. The rear is of course shortened 45mm.
It appears that they used another uni end that is larger than the sample shaft I gave them. It still clears but only by about 1mm!? I'm going to use an aluminium pan which I'll be able to trim a little for clearance so It'll be ok I think. I could also trim the steel pan a little and it would be ok. Looks good otherwise... Also got the header kit from castle today. It's all 304 with 1 5/8" primary, 2" secondary and 2 1/2" collectors. |

Looking good Pete, getting closer every day.
How much is the header kit worth?

Those tailshafts look too nice to get dirty.
