The fun bit will be getting parts for one in a hurry.
Not too many of us have parts for an Escort sitting in the shed that can be exchanged for bourbons. For a fun weekend car yes indeed an awesome thing to have. For a daily you need to rely on to get to work................fail. Also take the word of someone who has bought a vehicle with rust in the roof before. It will be at least 3 times bigger then it appears and the roof is the hardest panel to get right and straight.

Wish I lived way back when Escorts, Cortinas and all the rest of the good cars were around and parts were ready to be picked up with no problem. It's a shame that I'm such a young fella and have no idea what I'm doing.
Oh well, better continue with my bad choices, how else am I suppose to learn!

Bit of an update...
It'll be sad to most of you guys, but I actually ended up buying a 1994 Honda Prelude. Bit different, but hey, it'll last me until I am able to legally drive a 5.0L or a 5.4L Ford again.

Could have sold you a Probe, at least you could have been making your declaration of man love in a ford.
What ever gets your rocks off. Nah, the Prelude wasn't a bad thing. My wife wanted one for years, an Ex Girlfriend of mine had one as well.

Can someone tell me what the bonnet badge is on the bonnet of the EL Ghia? I had a look on ebay and couldn't find it. Is it a Ghia badge? Off what model? It looks really nice.

It could be one of 2 badges - If it has a scripted 'G' on it, it's off a b-series (Not sure if it was just the Fairlanes or if the fairmont ghia had it too) - either way, it would be a ghia badge. Should still be able to get these from Fraud It it has the letter 'T' on it - it is a bonnet emblem off a NL FBT or an AU T-series. This is highly unlikely. These ones are rare as. and would be exxy.

So many posts to reply to!
It's a fun little car to drive around in, VTEC is always a chuckle... I'm only planning on tidying it up with cheap mods/work, then selling it when Im able to legally drive something with 8 cylinders, or forced induction

Haha I could do... but my goodness is it a BIG change! I actually just wrapped the boot in carbon fibre vinyl, as the previous owner removed a spoiler... but didnt bog the holes, just left dirty rubber caps in there, and the clear was also peeling. Looks half decent imo

just had a quick look on carsales, and dunno if its a typo or not but the old CRX's weigh 800kg's with a 117kw engine.......... which makes for a better power to weight than a new falcon
are they really that quick?....... if so i might just buy one and rice the f**k out of it, for something different www.carsales.com.au/private/details/hon ... 5-13667559 |
