RobDog wrote: Bugger I should have tried harder to make it fit. I just read that a lot of people take it out so I did. Ill just have to make sure I leave it more than quarter tank or take it easy driving below that. Was trying to mount the exhaust manifold last night but I was having a few difficulties. Its the Stage 6 manifold with the bigger pipes and it was hitting on the solid heater pipe that runs below it so I couldnt get it on. Anyone else have this problem? Ive never read anywhere of anyone having to do anything to this.. Yeah or you could run a surge tank instead. But I would of personally left it in as mines a daily driven car. Umm the solid heater pipe hmm I have an idea. How far along the pipe does it foul? If it's after the mounting bolt you could cut the pipe just after where it's mounted to the block and braze a fitting onto the end to attach a braided flexible line with a speed flow fitting and run it down a bit and then back up and around the back of the cylinder head to where it usually goes. I wouldn't recommend running normal heater hose and clamps as the heat from the exhaust manifold would get pretty hot. Not sure if anyone has done this but just a suggestion??

Oh and are you running a water cooled turbo? If so you'll need to get your coolant feed from
This heater pipe so you'll need to tap into this anyway. And you can run the return from the other heater pipe just before it goes into the thermostat housing.

Unfortunately a bit late to leave it in. Might run a surge tank later on.
It hits nearly right on where its bolted to the block which is annoying. I dont know whether I can try and bend it a little to miss it or whether to cut and add some braided line. For the water lines I have tapped into where they had the lines for the gas converter when i had it on which is the lower thermostat housing and the where the hoses come back through the firewall from the cabin. Does it matter which side it enters and exits the turbo? I dont think it does but just double checking.. |

You should contact Geoff at snort performance and ask him what he usually does about the manifold fouling on the heater pipe.
And no it doesn't matter which side the feed/return is plumbed on the turbo

I called him about 8 times one day to buy an FMU. Kind of glad he didn't answer though as I I realize now that using an FMU and stock computer was a rough way to go about pushing more fuel in haha.

RobDog wrote: I got my side skirts from Phat Custom kits...and then learned a bit about them. Like you just said in another thread...bullet dodged for you but i didnt find out until after. One side fitted ok but the other was two short and had to be modified. I also saw last night that there is a bit starting to crack And the rear bit of the grill part of them is getting shocking stone chips. Most of the paint is gone in a patch. Worse on the other side. Nah not getting a rear bar yet im getting a few items for my engine instead. Sick of it being stock what else is dogy about fat custom kits thats where i got my complete kit coming from |

Not sure. Ive just read on some threads about them. Sometimes the parts dont quite fit or line up properly and when you tell him about it he doesnt want to know you but not everyone has had problems. It may just need a bit of modifying to fit properly. Hopefully you wont have any problems.

Got them from wheels2u.com
I gave them a call and they had the Typhoon rims in 18"x8" pre-au offset for about $1300 I think. Cant quite remember. That was rims only and got tyres locally a bit later on when I could afford it. |

Small update..
Been getting through everything slowly. The XMS ecu is now all wired in with sensors, injectors, coils and auxillaries all done. Fuel reg is mounted on the firewall and braided fuel lines all made up. Water lines all made up. Battery mounted in boot and wired in. Car all lights up as it should which is a good sign Just need to put the exhaust manifold on properly and then connect all the oil and water lines to it and also need to put the intake manifold on and fuel rail and injectors. Car is booked in on monday for the 3" exhaust to be done. It will all come together pretty quick now |

looking good mate, gonna have to paint that rocker cover and clean the engine bay to finish it off
what size is your intercooler? So i assume you successfully mounted that manifold to your cylinder head, did you have to modify it at all? or just alot of persistence...

Yeah it does look pretty messy at the moment. Give it all a nice wash once im done
I ended up getting it all bolted up last night using studs and nuts instead of bolts. It wasnt too bad just a little persistence. And i managed to get it all done without pulling it all apart which is good Car is at the Exhaust joint today getting that done. When i was talking to Geoff from Snort I found out i didnt get a GT3582 but instead got the GT4202. So much bigger turbo it looks pretty big next to the head And the intercooler is 600x300x76... |

damn you have done well to fit the manifold/turbo/external wastegate/merged dump pipe in 1 piece .. your fuel rail should be on its way next 48hrs
