Yeah will be using an electronic one for sure at some point. Probably just leave it on the wastegate for the time being.
Started last night and got the intake manifold and power steering off and half of the exhaust manifold nuts. Had to remove the front bumper to take off the intercooler piping and intercooler as they had some water in them too :?
Will get the exhaust side off tonight so Im ready to remove the head first thing tomorrow...

Got the head gasket done over the weekend. Was successful and now i can finally drive it! :D

I havent been giving it too much yet. Just easing into it. Its hooked back up to the wastegate and can only see about 6 psi. Runs a tad rich at points so need to iron it all out.
Need to run it a bit longer and change the oil again to make sure its all clean and same with the water but fingers crossed its all ok!

First time driving a turbo car so i get a little excited each time it comes on boost haha
A few pics before the bumper went back on and of the engine bay

looks good mate , be careful regarding the tune as rich mixtures can damage the ceramic coating

the boost control can you send me a copy of the current tune and i will check to see if there was a problem related to software/hardware

with au shim gasket if it over boosts again it will be pistons/ringlands so you need to be sure its working correctly

It's a little rich but not super rich and it cruises pretty good so I'll hopefully get it back down to the tuner soon to make sure it's all good and to polish it up.
I'll be happy just to leave it hooked up to the wastegate and not run a controller for the time being so won't overboost anymore.
I'll send you a copy of it for you to look at.

ok cool, i have spoken with the tech guys with the xms8 and they are awaiting a copy of the tune

we need to find what/where caused the boost spike - no point having boost control built in if you cant make it work ;)

Bit of news of late.

Everything has been fixed! Head gasket was done and have been driving it a lot lately.
Drives very nicely now and has some pretty good power...more than I'm used to anyway
Had the auto trans serviced and its running a bit nicer now.
Installing an oil cooler this week and doing a few little things to tidy it up before the AFD in Geelong on Sunday.

A few pics.. :D

I am having a slight issue with my auto trans... :?

After driving for a bit and it warms up I am having problems with the converter. On acceleration the revs will drop a few hundred revs but if I back off slightly they will increase by a few hundred. It seems to be like it should be the other way around, increase a bit on accel and decrease when I back it off a bit. (by backing off I mean back to just cruising, not slowing down)

Trans had oil and filter changed by Ford about 2 weeks ago and it only started happening on the trip back from the All Ford Day in Geelong on Sunday night.

Anyone had anything of the sort happen?

Thought I'd better post a few pics of my interior since it has been done for quite a while.
As well as a few pics of my car from the Geelong All Ford Day on the 19th Feb.
Was a very warm day and I got quite a bit of sunburn...

Well, what has been happening of late...

I installed an engine oil cooler and that has reduced the oil temp by quite a bit. It used to sit up around 110 degrees but now it hasnt gone over 80. I havent taken it for a real long drive though so not sure what it would go up to. I have a Davies Craig fan attached to it but havent wired it up yet.

I also got an AUII engine from my uncle which I am stripping down ready for a forged rebuild at some point soon. Ill get it all done and ready to swap in when I feel the need to really turn up the boost for some power

But in the meantime I still have to add the IAC which will help it run a bit better at idle and also plumb the intake down through the battery tray behind the foglight where it should get significantly more fresh, cool air
Also need to repaint the steering wheel since it didnt work so well the first time, make a bracket for the cruise control cable and also get motivated to do my custom boot install
All in good time :P

Transmission has been crackin the wobbly's lately. It has decided to upshift too and down shift everytime i take my foot off the accelerator, making you lurch forward as it does it.
Its really annoying, not sure what the problem is and dont know how much to fix so this could be a good opportunity to upgrade the trans I am thinkin :D hmmm...was thinking something with two more gears..

Other than that I still have most things to do as I said in the above post but I have ordered my new sub and amp for my boot install. Best buy the wood and get stuck into it :D
