RANT and NEW BITS BEING BUILT
in advance sorry for wall of text. RANT well its been two weeks since my last update, i havnt updated as yet again when i get someone else to do somthing for my car they take for flipping ever to do it. my new ivory interior is now "hopefully" due in the next 6 days, either that or im on a road trip to visit, but they say they are looking good, i just wish when someone says "4>6 weeks and we'll do our best to get yours done in 4" they wouldnt take 8, yes EIGHT! weeks, i hope they are worth the wait. AFD Was funny to see all the people read the build sheet at AFD and then look for the missing interior, only to return to the build sheet confused, had a great day, talked to some new people and some guy with a car similar to mine did a great skid/slid on the way out. NEW BITS onto new bits, im getting a 67mm throttlebody of FastXr (group buy here), and it made me think of redoing my intake setup, to somthing ive been thinking of for a while. Sooo, as my sig states i have a ported intake manifold (more de-burring than porting tbh), but that is being changed as ive dug my teeth into another EF intake manifold. the bottom half will be getting the same de-burring treatment and a bit more porting than the first (as best as i can do with the shape of the manifold). BUT the top half is having somthing done that ive wanted to do for ages. in getting the center part of the top half of the bbm (where the t/body sits, between the 2 sets of 3 runners) cut out and spun around. you may ask why, main reson is because i want somthing different to everyone else, and to see if it will have any effect, i mean i am cutting out almost 1m of intake piping, and positioning the throttle better above the short runners of the lower half so i should expect some slight improvements. only downside is that my car will probably sound like a vachume cleaner at idle (think VN commo with a pod) but we'll see, but even if it doesnt yeild any performance increase, it'll look better as nothing will be crossing the rocker cover. anyhoo ive cobbled together a pic in in PAINT!@!! (im sick and stuck at home on a sat night) but it should give the idea of what im doing. |

I believe turning the throttle body has been tried before, and if its not put in the right spot, it will hit the bonnet and the bonnet wont close. So measure well.
The only way to do it is to angle the throttle body so its 90deg to the top of the BBM. But that poses an airflor restriction. |

ARM: cheers for the heads up, im hopeing to get away with erhaps grinding a bonnet brace off, or grinding the throttle down a bit, as i have a thin plate covering the isc to shorten the height., i suppose we'll see when i get it back, as im told the tip part of the welder melted when it was welding so this has slowed things down a bit.
Frankieh: yeah the BA bulge would be cool, but im not sold on them on e-series cars at the moment, plus i dont think they are that wide, might do a grechie and have a 90' bend go through the bonnet with a pod jammed on the end CAM: ive been really busy so havnt been able to chase them up, i sent an email a few mins ago to them, and if the answer is not a good one ill be taking a drive down to dandy south, as im a bit over waiting. on a news front, ive been working my tail off and saving alot of $$$ so after i get my new throttle and airbox, the car will be off for a tune, im hopeing for a big gain from a tune as its still on the stock EF GLI AUTO ecu. |

a small update, ive got the interior, and provided you know some basic sewing sorta skills its not too hard to install, and is looking INCREADABLY cool, so far ive done the door trims, and the whole back seat, am slowly working on the front seats. have been going slow as the girlfriend has been in hospital, but have taken photos along the way of the cover install so will have an update in the next day or two. |

UPDATE
ok im not having barly any time to myself atm, but i wanted to gove a small update (i am writing the guide for the covers slowly) 1. intake manifold has been welded, just having some touch ups done by a mate 2. throttle is done waiting till i get payed tommorow to send the $$$ 3. the interior is in!!!!!! i have to say, i didnt think it would come out this well, i can see why some would think the ebay coveres are a bad idea and would be crap, but if you take the time to actually fit them properly, they fit really well (just like the original) and look better than any fairlane interior i could have got that is 10+ years old. everyone thats seen it thinks its amazing and it looks and feels sooo good in person. anyway a teaser pic untill i get time to get some high quality, pics of the parts. Before After |

your right they look f**k awesome, and like brand new leather seats !!
i was *that* close to buying these, but a used Ghia interior came up with woodgrain & chrome doortrims for slightly less $$ but was a tough decision, those covers look like theyre worth every cent |

Looks great man, seems like they fit very very well. You wouldnt think they were covers at all. The colour goes well with the rest of the interior too . Nicely done!!
