Yeah tint is going on the new car and redoing the other windows... Well I'm yet to see what that wheel is like. We do powder coating at my work so I can get it done cheap as chips. As well as a rocker cover that I'm think of putting metallic black powder on it.

Sorry to hear about your car....it was really nice.
At least your awesome wheels might be salvagable?
Thanks

but there is a problem. car wont start... when i got to the wreckers to pick it up they had left it on the road so i can get it on the trailer. the window was down??? and the battery was as flat as a tack... C***... anyhow there was a shower of rain before i got there so the seat, carpet, part of the dash and door trim was damp. can't say how much rain there was or how long the window was down for.
But symptoms i have so far discovered: chucked jumper leads on the terminals, interior lights turn, turn key to on position, the usual warning lights turn but gauges dont react (fuel gauge), nor does the fuel pump prime... tried starting and this symbol showed up (!) and nothing else... turn off and take keys out some symbols are still lit but very dull. out of nowhere the fuel pump starts up and runs continuously and dash starts beeping. all with keys out... doesnt stop unless power is disconnected...

moisture issue im guessing????

oh and one right rear wheel nut was missing, and the rubber that joins the plastic intake piping to the throttle body was upside down and missing hose clamps... WTF??

Sounds like someone might have been playing with your car at the yard dude.

That's why i never let insurance companies take my car's before it's been assessed & i'm happy with the payout or getting it repaired. Until they pay you for the car, you still own it so it should stay in your possession....

I guess something to learn from the situation? I hope you can salvage a fair bit for your new ride!

Cheers

Technically it never left my possesion. When I was paid out I made sure the $300 (amount the wanted for the wreck) was deducted out of the final payout. Nothing else is missing as far as I know for now. At time of prang I really didn't have a choice given where I was, just before peak traffic. It was either that or pay the towing joint.

Yep. You always had a choice, sure you might have had to pay the tow truck driver the difference in kms, but you always have the choice & right to say where you want it towed to....

I hope you don't have to experience that again.

Cheers

I was about 20km from home and had no-where else to store the car. And being fairly poor at the time being an apprentice I couldn't afford to pay towing. I was asked where I wanted the vehicle towed to.
I endend up getting more than I expected anyway which was a bonus.

I hope I don't have to either...

well apart from the missing wheel nut (which has got me f**k) and the iffy CAI piping - TB rubber joiner everything seems untouched but could be deceiving though. But I'm not that fussed at this point until I find something worth concerning about.

gotta get back to you on that one, another mate wants them for someone elses car but if he's too slow come and grab them.

I may have figured out the non starting problem... I unscrewed and unplugged the BEM under the dash on the left side and found a bit of moisture above the top plug (long narrow one you can see when you take dash facia off) so I reckon that would the problem that's playing havock with the system. Mind you I'm unsure of the condition of the ECU after the prang.

Is it prone for ECU's to pack up from a bit of shock? I don't remember the car hitting the guard with THAT much of a sudden shock. It's an EF manual tickford ECU so it better be still good!

when i turn the key to start, i get this symbol appear on the cluster, (!), does this mean the ecu thinks its still in gear from one of the plugs on the neutral switch had come off? From previously having an auto box to being converted to manual...

Cheers.

Sam.

im not sure if this will help you but its free to try...my old ef did something similar to this when i went to start it the next time your at the car turn the ignition on and go to start it then give it a wack under the steering collumn. it may not be it but its worth a try my old car did this as it had a dodgie ignition switch after a wack or 2 it fired up.
