I think the back end of the sedan was where they really...really went wrong. The manual suffers even worse with the tow loading but since mine is plated auto that's not my problem. However they still do suck for towing, 1st gear as short as it is on the road, just isn't short enough with a big load on imo.

I've seen my car on many occasions with a car trailer that weighs 1800 bare, loaded with a race truggy, all the gear, back filled with supplies etc and driven half way across Australia and back without dramas. The bf2 ute that replaced it actually still struggles to do the same job and uses more fuel and has had more hassles, to the extent of having to get it re-tuned to suit altitude. I used to think the ea was the last of the real light unkillable cars, apparently the au is. To top it off, my bf costs me the same to register as a 3.5tonne gvm land cruiser, absolutely pathetic.

The au done all that and more for nearly 200,000kms without even an auto service. It's outlasted its bf2 replacement. It gets driven hard everyday, gets shown no respect and gets used for work. I still carry the confidence that I can go and start it up, drive however far I wish, however I wish with no hassles. That's what Ford used to be about, not ipod integration or bluetooth or a million and one airbags.

Sorry to hijack your thread mate, rant over.

Fully functioning headlights are great :P

Don't get me started... the whole 52million piece AF/metric/undeterminable tool kit plus Ford Special Tools needed just to work on them....the inherant engineering problems they've had for decades... blah blah lol

I still love em.

I'm selling my B series before my ute if it makes you feel any better lol. Only because you didn't buy it :( :P

I would agree with ou there... I'm looking at getting a 2ch amp to run a sub, but long term it will end up running the door speakings... Though that's a second priority to interior and brakes, and I guess suspension...

You have a good point... Would be a good result for a days work. Hmm how low are the springs? And dumb question, but if I change springs do I HAVE to change the shocks?
