Not distressed, I would've however rather seen it go to anyone else rather than the skip, but unfortunately begrudging attitudes prevail. I guess that's what happens when you take something meaningless off someone dirt cheap then turn it into something worth money. As I said, last laugh is still mine lol.

went to an interior place this afternoon to ask about some modifications...

couldnt find anything the right colour or matching leather to vinyl to suede/carpet. starting to realise why not many people do this sorta work to their cars.
i need to check out other interior places, though i dont like my chances and i really dont have the time to chase up every interior place in brisbane... but o well, s**t does happen i guess.
im starting to think i just dont do anything for the time being... :(

finally found a set of rims that i like and will go with the theme of the ute, i saw them on an BA XR8 up the street that i have been tracking down for AGES. his got them in red to match his red calipers underneath... anywho they are Speedy - FIN RS BLUE. though ideally i would like them in a satin black finish with that blue stripe... the guy up the street has them in satin/matte black, so im assuming that the older style of that rim actially did come out the way i want them. maybe i might be lucky enough to pick up a set 2nd hand :/ though im not liking my chances lol

i've got some headlight issues, they are only just a bit brighter then my parkers at times... so i thought while im at it i might change to a brighter setup, so if anyone has some input on HID's or similiar setups... please do give me a hand... brands/strength/colour/price/durability/etc...

i've read some things about them, they seem too good to be true... so that makes me a bit nerveous about changing... what is the down side?

I've been doing a bit of research into a HID conversion.. seems like it would be a fair bit of work.

The other thing is, they're technically illegal if they're not engineered, in so far as I can gather, but I'm not 100% on that.

The easiest way to do the conversion, I think, would be to pull the whole basic rig (ie the projector) and make it fit into your existing headlights. I've read that you need smooth glass, and that you don't. Iunno.
It's hard sifting through heresay and actual achievment as far as these things go, so hopefully you have a bit more luck than I have so far.

Actually knowing a bit more about how the things actually work might help xD As I know jack all.

sounds like they are too good to be true... will have to look into it more, maybe i am just better off with a new set of bulbs in my existing lights... they are just s**t at the moment though... o well... see what i find after doing some more research...

haha yeah, well after seeing them on low_ryda's ute i decided thats what i want long term... then i saw those speedy rs fin's on a BA xr8 black ute up the street from me, and decided that they are a good rim too... they also come in 20"x7.5" or 20"x8.5", so winning there... just have to save up $$$ (so not going to happen anytime soon, but still a good long term goal).

I'm actually pretty happy with the lights on my xr. They kill the ea and compared to the 2candle power lights in my hilux they do quite well in the rural area I live in. My bf is still that bit better but AU XR's do have great lighting I find. Just get some good bulbs. HID's are not only alot of phuking around and illegal but they schitt me to tears when I'm faced with them at night. HIDs should be reserved for spotlights....for those people who know when to use them....and when to turn them OFF

Also try pollishing the glass if they are starting to go yellowish this will affect the light output. Although it almost sounds like you have a voltage problem ?

i am very much starting to believe that they are too good to be true, i think i have some spare bulbs laying around somewhere... i will track them down and try that to start off with. but yeah i think its a voltage problem aswell, its just really hit and miss though. doesnt seem to be a lot of power at the best of time though... will have to see what my mechanic things when it gets serviced next, cause ill be stuffed if i can find the issue...

Probably... my lights are pretty bright and I'm just running normal bulbs.... the light is a bit on the yellow side, but still good.

I don't know whether this is the problem or just a symptom of the problem, but the connection on the right is heavily corroded and the surround plastic has melted pretty badly.

Both of the low beam plugs look exactly like this...
Hopefully I can replace them without too much effort.

Incorrect bulbage will generally melt wiring like that. Although a single dodgey connection can cause similar problems it's odd in both sides in the same circuit.

Well they might both be wrong bulbs, replaced at the same time... Though I've had the ute a year and a half and never touched them... Hmm... Don't know... Will see what I can find tomorrow...
