I am still to decide which wagon to finish. The EL is a complete driving car, and has very little reqd for rwc.
But, it is only a poverty-pack GLi. The EF is a futura.
The EL has a very dirty/worn/ripped interior, the EF is spotless.
The EL has no extras, other than the dual fuel. The EF has cruise, elec windows on the front doors, etc etc.
The EL has had the fuel tank cut in half to fit the lpg tank. The EF uses the standard fuel tank, with a donut-style lpg tank in place of the spare.
I'm leaning towards stripping the EL and finishing the EF, with the EL front panels. I will have a good look over both cars this weekend, and decide then. More pics coming. 8-)

We have decided to leave the EL complete, as it is too good to wreck. I drove it today, and it goes really well, even on LPG. Everything works, except the rhf window reg, but we have spares. My Mum has been driving a 60 series 'cruiser, and it is getting too expensive for her ($120 a week) to keep using, plus she is over the whole 4wd thing. We decided to register the EL, and she will use it as her drive car for approx 12 months. We will probably chuck a set of NA Fairlane alloys on it for now, as we have a set there with good tyres. The LPG tank was removed today, and will go to get tested tomorow. It has a power steer leak, but we have a good pump if required, and an exhaust leak, but we were recently given a good running ED wagon, with an almost brand new exhaust system, so we'll use that. Apart from that should go through RWC quite easily. I figure its better to have it used and driven, rather than sit around for at least 6 months, maybe more, until I can finish it.
I will still finish the EF, but not sure which we will keep, sell, give to Mum, etc.

Yep, similar deal - I picked up a poly green EF XR6 wagon recently, now all of the good bits from the EL wagon are going into it.
Had to deliberate for some time whether I wanted to put in all the labour to do this - parts weren't an issue.
Then there's what to do with the EL wagon - it's going to a good home, couldn't bear wrecking it or sending it to the crusher.

As far as wagons go, I now have the EF wagon, the EL wagon, the original EA wagon (rolling car - no motor or box) a complete driveable, but rough, ED wagon, and an EB V8 wagon, less running gear, very rusty.

Plus my XH ute, the spare / donor XH ute, an EL sedan ex-taxi (not much left of it now) an ED Futura sedan (no motor/box/etc), an EA sedan (wreck), the AVO NA 'lane, another complete NA 'lane, an NC LTD ( rolling shell only) and two other NA 'lane wrecks.

Good thing my Mum lives on acreage.... 8-)

I started the wagon build nearly three years ago, with the EA. I will finish one of them soon. I will. Really.

Yeah, no lack of enthusiasm at the start.......
I just have a lot going on at the moment, and I only get to play cars on Sundays, and not every sunday, so before you know it a year has gone and you have not finished anything. Oh well, such is life. Once I get my own shed at home...... but that's a few years away yet.

Hey, you can't rush perfection. Or the work I do.

Yes, it has had three sets of alloys on it, plus a set of steelies/yard wheels, and it will get a set of something nice once it's finished. We just seem to accumulate ford factory alloys, we must have 4 or 5 sets of 15" alloys at the moment. Most of them are ugly, with crap tyres, but it keeps the car rolling, so...... :P

so tempted to hit you up as my dad wants me to replace his auto.
haha.
ah you'll get it done, I'm sure it'll be registered in the next year or 2!

Good to see it's not just me with wagon projects getting sidetracked.

Interior swapouts are over in a matter of a couple of hours. If that was all I had to do I would have been finished years ago. Give your mum a better set of seats etc.

Hey, things are happenning. Slowly.
The EL is registered and on the road! It is now my Mums daily, so they spent a few dollars and got it roadworthy and rego'd. It had to have the LPG tank re-certified, a new power steer pump, front pads and rotors, rear pads, and a set of wheels (NA Lane 15" alloys we had lying around). The seats need a good clean, but she is happy with it, so I'll keep the nicer Futura trim in the EF for now.
But at least it's on the road, not sitting gathering dust/rust/spiders/green tree frogs like all the rest. I still think I should have wrecked it, as was originally planned, but at least Mum has a nice safe car to drive. I don't know if I'll ever get it back though......
I'll get some pics next time I see it. 8-)

No that's good it is alive and running as a useful car. I hate to send cars to their death. I hate the waste that our society produces. it's probably why i can't bring myself to quit my project and sell all the parts. I would rather finish it and sell the car as a viable vehicle.

But i do have to face the reality in that i will not be happy with the EF.

I want a second Territory 8-)

The EL got a bit of love yesterday. It had a bit of a hissy fit last week, blew the top of the airbox, stalled a lot, ran really rough, etc, so Mum put it into a shop to have it sorted. They found a gas leak, and repaired that, replaced the leads, tuned it a bit, and also told her the cat was blocked and needed replacing. Luckily, we were given an ED wagon last year that has an almost new exhaust system on it. Off it came, and it bolted straight onto the EL. Now it idles a bit nicer, and seems to have a bit more power down low, so that problem is sorted.

The EF has been a bit neglected lately, but once the latest job is sorted in the shed, it will go back in and have the battery tray and RH lower headlight mount fitted and painted, then I can (finally) start to reassemble the damn thing. Slow and steady wins the race......apparently.... 8-)
