hi

okay so im all new to this but this is my hand me down ba falcon xt :D
it has none of the options so its real standard.

Image

basically everything mechanical is stock though i have done a few visual mods which ill include now or later.

i really liked the look of "angel eyes" so after a bit of searching around.
i bought these on ebay and fitted them myself. i wired them to the ciggie and also the dome circuit and used a dpdt switch. this is so when i flick the switch on the dome, when i open the car they turn on. the ciggie is power for when i want to turn them on alone

Image

Image

when i unlock the car at night they look awesome! but since theres only 2 leds in each ring, you cant see the halos in daylight.

the little panel that i fitted the switches to

Image

got some "missile" switch covers

Image

Image

i dont have premium sound which means i dont have footwell lights, i bought this set off ebay which i wired to the same circuit as the halos, it has a control box which allows me to change the LED bars through 7 colours, red, blue, green, purple, white, aqua, and yellow

Image

Image

it also has led bars for the rear foot wells

Image

i just had to get these led altezza tail lights

Image

so i bought the chrome version off ebay and only took about 10 minutes to swap out the old taillights !

Image

Image

Image

so thats all ive got time for but ill be posting more pics of the other mods ive done so far soon

Nice, tidy looking XT you got there :)

Any engine mods you have planned yet? Maybe think about an XR6 bodykit upgrade? Can find quality second hand bodykits on ebay for a good price :)

Thanks mate
Yeah when I have the money
Hurricane extractors, redback catback with the twin dump pipes, and a growler.
Actually I'm into the bf gt style body kits from fibresports, and to keep it different I'll probably go for the kit to suit xt headlights.

Be careful buying bodykits mate.

I did the cheap option and got an ebay bodykit for like $650. It was a royal pain in the a**, barely fits properly and still needs to go to a panel beater just to stop it from moving around.

I suggest having a look at www.ssv.com.au
Their prices are little dearer, but it's the quality work they do. A few of the guys here have used them, and will speak highly of their products.

yeah i dont think im going to go for a bodykit just yet as resale value doesnt usually increase and it would be a waste when im thinking saving of buying a bf xr6 turbo in when im on my opens. as with the other mods theyre fairly easy to swap over :)

continuing on, since xt's don't have fog lights and i found it impossible to find a set of ghia "turning lights" i found these DRL led bars which match the colour of my halos.
i just cut the middle section of the bumper inserts and spliced them into the power from the halos, such easy work since theyre LEDs and use the tinyest amount of power.
excuse the mess btw

pre-fit
Image

the bars came with screws to attach them but it was too fiddly when i was trying to put the tiny bolts on so i used 3m double sided tape and made sure the wires were tight so if they do come loose they would just tilt downwards.

all done
Image

i also bought these chrome led side indicators, i think the suit my car nicely and i was so sick of those ugly, yellowed plastic side indicators with moisture build up in them. these just stick on like any decal badge. instead of cutting the original wiring i just put the pos+ and neg- into the orginal bulb holder and shoved the bulb on top to hold it.

heres how it turned out
Image

Image

Image

Image

i wanted to change the dome light to a green light which would be bright enough to flood the ground outside when i unlocked the car at night but not so bright it overpowered my footwell lights, unfortunately when going led thats a hard thing to do and this was too bright, so i tried flipping it over and decided i like the look, its sort of like a square neon green glow.

theres also the image from outside my xt up top of the page ^^^

how did you get your side indicator lense out without busting it? I have no idea how to approach it!

You have to take out some scrivets off the guard inside the wheel well, bend it back and reach in from behind :) and then it's as simple as pushing in two clips on each side of the indicator lense and it'll pop straight out

I just sent you a PM in response to your last one about this so ignore that! :p

did you replace the scrivets? because i cannot get them out without busting them!

oh haha i only just read your post,
umm nope i used a drill with an extension bar and then while i had the screw spinning i levered it out with a small flathead.
theres a few big ones there that were a pain but f it comes out halfway the get pliers and yank it out, if its still stuck then wiggle the guard at the same time because the guard might be putting pressure against the scrivet
goodluck
took me a while but best part is you just shove em in the hole and they pop in place
