i would say the head is the original... is the block painted? or is it bare steel/rust??
as after a certain date ford stopped painting the blocks...

Sounds like an XHII with EF XR front bar to me.
Nope, it's as I mentioned earlier.

Its got an EL rocker cover too.
Most did - only the first few months XR6 models used the EF rocker cover and induction, and they used the EF 12 counterweight crank as well. Around the EL intro, they went to the 8 counterweight crank.

also in the 3rd pic, the bonnet and front bar seem to not line up right?- is it missing something there?
Might be that plastic slat the EF XR bars had - sits above the Ford badge between the bonnet and front bar.

Mine was one of the last off the production line AFAIK. Build date was 11/98.
Definitely a hybrid - XH's ran Apr96 til Jun99, and they spanned 3 passenger models - EFII/EL/AUI.
Look above the accelerator pedal, and you'll find an EF BEM.

IIRC Phil the XH XR's should have the 3.45 LSD as per the passenger models. Mine's a 3.23 LSD.
ABS was optional not std on LSD's like the passenger models. I note your's is non ABS.
I forgot to add from earlier in the thread that your's is a non Airbag model - they have an empty Airbag cover with a 'Longreach' badge instead of the SRS emblem.

Yep, try not to bend them - straight examples of panels(or any examples) are not too common.

Went to work today and got my top tool box and started at 9am to pull the gearbox, clutch and flywheel out.Had it all out by 10.45 at home in the driveway not bad goin by myself. My new clutch turns up lunch time tomorrow and the fly wheel will be done today.
The clutch was nearly down to riverts so changed it in time,i was worried it wouldnt hook up next saturday with the micky t's on as it felt crap compared to the xg ute clutch...
