Sound system looks great. Recently upgraded mine too, but decided to custom box the subs because the parcel shelf kept ratteling too much.

Interesting to see what happens to her next.

First problem real problem I've run into on my car, the plastic belt spindle/holder thing (technical term ) cracked at the base causing the car's belt to come off the second I put my foot on the gas. Didn't click to it at first because of the dust protector. It was just making a horrible squealing noise, but was obviously still drivable. It had me baffled for a few minutes because it caused me to lose my power steering which had me even more baffled as I had just poured more power steering fluid in days before and it was still there.

Ended up working it out and identifying the problem; fortunately I was literally just outside of my parent's gates as I was visiting them for the weekend so I just reversed back in the yard and left it there. Decided I'd take the opportunity to call in to work and had the day off so I could work on it during the day. Pull out one of the five or so that my old man has stashed away for this very situation, fit it up after half and hour or so and put fluid in to it just to find out that that one was f**k as well and was leaking fluid from the front of it and giving what I would like to call "Automatic Steering", by that I mean the second that my hands were off of the wheel the bloody thing decided to turn the wheels from one side to the other and back again, so I decided it probably wasn't best to drive it that way and left it there again. My old man ended up putting another one on the next day and testing it out so we're back in business again now.

On to other news, I love to scour the for sale forums on this site, fordforums.com.au and eBay. Found a new, well, second hand exhaust system "Pacemaker 4499's, 2.5in press bent system with twin 2.5in chrome dumps. hi flow cat. great sounding system. $400" that had come down to $300 so I offered $290 and bought it. I'm hoping to get it installed on the weekend, but I want to clean up the headers and put some VHT Gunmetal Gray on to them to make them look a little nicer and keep the engine bay somewhat clean. Heres a few happy snaps of the exhaust.







I'll put some more pictures up in the next few days once its all done and with the car cleaned up. Its looking nicer now than when I first bought it. It'd look better if I could get the dents and scratches out of it from before it came to me but that'll have to wait until I decide that I want it repainted.

The car is booked in next week to have its window's tinted to 35% black for $145 by Mastertint. Looking forward to it as well because I've not yet had a car's window's tinted.

Did a few things to the car this weekend. I had the luxury of having some Black AU seats (front and rear) that I had just sitting in my old AU. Decided to pull the crappy front leather seats out of the EL and replace them / modify them on to the EL's brackets. Plans for the back seats to be put in at a later date. Turned out to be much more simple than I thought it would be and looks better than dodgy car seat covers. I also painted the 4499 Pacemaker headers in 3M 650c heat proof Black. I cleaned them up with the drill using wire wheels. They came up pretty good, wasn't happy that they weren't glossy, but it would've faded off anyway. I also removed the trim from around the doors exterior so I can replaint them this weekend. Once I'm done with it on the weekend, I'll take some pictures and post it up.

Haha, sorry to have kept you guys waiting; here's a few to hold you over...

I'm pretty happy with the window tinting; the worst part is that I can't put the windows down and I have no aircon. I was so sweaty by the time I made it back to work. Eeeck.

These seats are looking much better now that everything is cleaned up; very happy with them and having spent $400 on the full AU interior (when I had the AU).

Few more things I'll need / want to do in the near future:

Hoodlining;
Replace interior light housing with that of an AU;
Swap heater core;
Paint interior;
Install Exhaust system (this weekend);
Fit / Modify AU rear seats for mounting in EL;
Install Capacitor for sound system under rear seat;
Select appropriate height/air pressure for smooth ride whilst car is lowered via air-shocks;
Repaint body trim and reattached; and
Much much more.

1996 Ford EL Fairmont Ghia - 2.5" Mild Steel Exhaust w/ 1 box and resonator.

I'm not 100% on it, but for $290 from headers to tip, its awesome. I'll put some more pictures up of the tip before and after polishing etc as well.

Does sound rather similiar. I think the next thing on the hit list is getting my hands on a second hand front and rear bar -- as you can see, my rear bar is pretty s**t and the front isn't much better. I don't know how people let their cars get so beat up; I put it down to ignorance...

On another note REW93N, I saw in the geek forum that you've been in need of someone with photoshop knowledge (vectors etc), if you find yourself in need again, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Shes getting there mate. Your exhaust sounds exactly like my old one did too!

You should invest in some chrome strips for your doors, bumpers, etc. They really freshens up the exterior and all. Check mine and you'll see what i mean.

Other than that, mods are looking great, loving the parcel shelf, and keep up the good work!
