Now its my turn to do an RD inspired build!
I have purchased a XG falcon ute in need of some love, needs front end work (serious noises front the struts and the suspension), runs on gas and is a 5 speed. It runs out of rego today. Also needs a headlight, font guard and a door. It is dual feul but doesnt run an petrol at all. Looks to Benj for some inspiration in that regard
So i am after some help from those in the know.
Do the XF panels fit an XH.
How big a job is it to rebuild the front end( springs/shocks/balljoints etc.
I will post pics when i get some.
It will need a pink slip some time in the next 3 months or a blue slip after that.
But now it is off to pick and paymore for some goodness to get it all running.

Cheers
Brett

Nice buy on the XG ute there, Iam pretty sure XD-F pannels will fit the XG with out to many probs. But have you ever thaught of going one better and add a XH front end to it??? This will allow you to add EF-L XR front bar or even a EL GT front bar if you come across one. Iam sorry i carnt help you with any ideas with the rebuild of the suspension. Have you got any ideas engine wise? you keeping the old 4L, or are you looking at dropping a 5L or even a newer B series 6? I really like the old XF style utes, so imo, i would take off the taurna cover clips allong the quarter and drop tray, weld them up and get the sides wicked straight, drop it on its guts and paint it something bright, o and some clear tail lights and if you can find some wicked chrome alloy roll bars add them in the shopping basket to. Good luck with the build.

Woo hoo another ute!!!!!!!!!!!!
We will be victorious!!!!!!!!!!

Brett XF panels will fit the XG.
I will have an XG guard here very soon for you once I start on my nugget over the next couple of weeks.
Rebuilding the front end is a piss easy job. About the biggest issue you will come across is having to grind the factory rivits out of the balljoints if they are original. The aftermarket replacements bolt straight in.
Give us a yell when you need a hand with it.

E series seats will bolt straight in.
I know a guy about to wreck out a ZL Fairy if your after some electric goodness for it.

EVL, i will take you up on that.
No leccy goodness, this is a plain jane XG. The doors are different, and as a result cost a bomb. Basically the XF doors have the latchmechanism on the outside of the door, and the XG/H on the inside. Now you can fit and XF door, but you ned the matching pillar to be cut and shut into it. Got one, but no guards were worth getting. Scored a light which is now in it, but will need a guard soon as the bent guard caused the light to not quiite fit in.

Was enquiring about the cost of motors as this one is pretty tired. EL $450, AU $350 with three months warranty, go figure.

Tomorrow off to my mech to get the front end sussed for bad bits then place the order and get the new bits to be fitted by me when i can.

Cheers
Brett

Yeah thats right the XF doors have the big square bulky latch on the outside of them and the XG have it built in to the door.
Just remembered that when you jogged my memory.
Looks like I have XG doors on the ute.
Mine must be right on the changeover. Crossflow and XF dash cluster but everything else is XG..............weird.

Seems a bit strange - can't cut and drill (x 3 holes)an XF door skin, fit the Eseries/XG/XH door latch and matching striker on the pillar ???

Also si there anyway to lift the doors as the drivers side has sagged and as such can be a pain to close.

If your drivers door is sagging and a butt pain to close it will either be cracked around the bottom hinge or have stuffed bushes and pins in the hinges.
Hinge reco kit costs about $30 delivered and has 2 pins with snap rings and 4 bushes.
1 kit does one door. Easy enough job to do just fiddly.

Hinge kit it will be then. The hinges appear to be good, but the pins show signs of wear/movement.
Bullbar will stay, just need more lights for it, lots more lights. Make it look like a mini truck lol, with running boards and all
