You must be seeing the wrong people Ross.
The guy doing mine did the one for Donnas XR8 not that long ago and it was $195 exchange. So Im hoping mine is about the same.

Well several auto elecs told me that the bits you need to do it properly are either impossible to get or ridiculous money, so most reco's are bodged up with second hand parts, mind you I had my guy say no and another guy nearer work said no could do either so I had little choice, 6 cyl ones are cheap as though shame they can't be fitted up somehow, there is also two types, mine being the harder to get as well

They are a pain in the a*** aint they Ross.
Maybe the guy that does ours is doing them with second hand bits. Honestly dont know. But he does give a 12month warranty on them , is a account customer with my brother and knows if they stuff up Ill throw them back through his window so fingers crossed all will be ok.

Ash. The moates chip is currently somewhere between here and the states , so when it turns up I will have to organise a time and some liquor for the tune to happen.
I can announce that the alternator was a raging success. Funny thing is its actually the alternator off Donnas XR8 that I got back after it was reconditioned. We fitted it up with a BA 6 cylinder pulley as it is heaps smaller in diameter so it now charges well at idle with the underdrives. I can seriously recommend anyone running under drives to fit the BA pulley as it makes that much off a difference. The spacing is 100% spot on and is a true bolt on item.
Then the old girl decided that it wants some more love , attention and money...............
I changed a couple of things around on Saturday and took it for a quick run to a mates place. It wasnt running the best but I put it down to the computer needed to sort itself out after a couple of changes.
Went to go out yesterday and could not get it to start at all. Spray start ya bastard down the manifold and a couple of f@rt and coughs and thats it. Sent the battery flat so put it on charge and went out for the day in the XR.
Got home last night and tried again. No start. While cranking it over I realised that I couldnt smell any fuel. Before after a bit of cranking you could smell that it was flooded very easily but last night in the cold heavy air you could smell a thing. The only time you could smell fuel was getting down and sniffing the exhaust and then it was only faint. Maybe the fuel pump has packed it in and was the drama all along if it was lazy? So thats todays job work out why there is no fuel and then more then likely change the pump over.

Bear. At the moment mate I wouldnt give a s**t what replaces it providing it starts and runs reliably. A Hyundai Excel would do me fine at the moment. Then I might actually finish my Maverick.
Ash. Yeah mate , there has been restructuring going on at work and I managed to recieve a penis in the rectum and have been moved to another division as of July 1 so the work truck will go.
Tony Martin. Just go away.

Cheers Ash.
Within the next six months or so me and Donna are going to have a bit of a shake up in life with things that are starting to happen and our comfort zone will no longer be so comfortable.
Everything is awesome between us but there are life changing issues with work that are starting to roll out so , yeah the tree change and country energy is looking more inviting and doable then it was this time last year.
See how we go with another hack. The lane is s**t me to tears but so far that much money has been spent on stuff in the last couple of months , that whilst I would like nothing more then to destroy it (I would actually take great glee!) it seems a more financially stupid option then to just keep throwing money at it and fix it.
I will either find the issue and fix it or have a brand new 95 lane once its all replaced..........either way it should work in the end.
In a fit of desperation I changed the TFI module as the spark seemed fairly ordinary and I had one laying in the garden.
Well I dont know if it was coincidence or not but the bastard started! It was still a pig to start but I dunno if that was from the plugs being wet with it flooded and the timing out from removing the dizzy or not but it did start and run.
Seems to start easier when warm now and the timing was easier to set and the idle isnt that eractic now.
SO will know if it was a cure when the car is cold again. If it is I will order a new module tomorrow.
I am not having high hopes but.............
So now I have the poos with my car and have brushed it to do a couple of things to the XR I wanted to get done.
