In March of 2007 we decided to upgrade the Bosses car for a 1990 Camry Wagon to a 1996 EL Fairmont Wagon

Stock as a rock, 4.0l, Navy Blue Fairmont wagon, but not for long.

One of the first things was to start work on a Body Kit. And as most people will know side skirts for Wagons are a rare thing and as I don't like the standard XR kits my options were limited. So as I always do, if I can't but what I like I make it.

The Skirts are BA SR, 2 sets were needed, cut and rejoined. With the leftovers I was able to make a set of skirts for a sedan, which went onto Fordfreak EF's Fairmont.

This was the start.

Next job was to lower the b**ch and as it was the bosses every day bus she was adamant that it was to be Lows only with 2" blocks in the rear. Lovell Spring were used on the fron and the blocks were obtained from Ebay.

Certanly improved the ride height and kept it very usable.

Next came the new front Bar as well as Twinlights.

Front Bar is a standard Fairmont Bar with a Talon Lip added, all joints are filled and new driving light surrounds were made and moulded into the Bar. Even the splitter bar had the joints filled.

We also added a new Steering wheel as well as new Head unit and blue dash conversion and that is pretty much the way she stayed for a while until a stight altercation with an A4 Audi at a roundabout, resulting in the Bar being damaged, Left Guard stuffed, Left Twin Light Cover smashed and the Bonnet damaged.

So new work began. The guard was replaced and I decided to get a Typhoon Bar from Newgel but before I could fit it Fordfreak wrote off his BA GT bar and I donated him mine and he ordered me a new one.

Here how it looked when we fitted it up.

While this had been going on I had also been building a new Fairmont/XBGT bonnet so here is how she looks with the bonnet and the Typhoon bar painted and fitted at her Debut at All Ford Day 2008. We also replaced the BAXR rims with ELGT copies.

The gear knob has been replaced with an after market one as well as a modified handbrake which is yet to be fitted. The grill has also been gutted and replaced with mesh as well as colour coding. I will post up pics soon.

Future Work

More work is on the way with a new Rear Bar as well as some new side panel kitting.
The current head unit is to be replaced with a DVD unit plus screen and front bar camera.
The dash lighting will also be changed to red.
Also to go in is a full set of woodtrimed Door panels (real wood) withn padded arm rests and lamps as well as carpeted kick panels.

It should be noted that this Wagon was part of my inspiration to build my on Wagon. SWC built my bonnet for me and deserves all the credit for his skill and craftsmanship.
